Vanilla Twist!

Yep. Release thread! I'm pretty happy I could make it on this C3. I was a bit rushed though, so I just hope I haven't missed anything important. :P

Please enjoy! :D
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
Super quick reply! Really nice screenshots Koopster. Some of the last screenshots offer a decent challenge. Adding to the list.
I played it. It's not the kind of hack I love but reminds the old SMW feel nicely (with more challenge either).
Nice work!

Ah yes, I've bene looking forward to this one.
It's unique to see a hack fully based on the level design nowadays, but I'm really happy you've made one of those. As far as I can tell from the screens, it all seems to be designed really nicely, and reminds me a lot of SMW's design: not too complicated, not too simple, but enjoyable.

Really well done, Koop.
this is by so far the best vanilla hack i've seen for c3. nice work, Koopster.
My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
Like I said before some weeks ago, this looks like a pretty nice hack! I'll play it when I arrive home.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
You know, when I see threads with the name "Vanilla", I imagine it will be a hack where many put it out their ideas with the graphics itself SMW, with original editions of the graphics, new palettes and etc.. However, you did something difficult, which was to create a hack with the original graphics and palettes. This should really be respected. Of course, not all hacks with these same characteristics are good. However, you know as well use their creativity, and thus create a good hack with the same ingredients as the original game.
Of course, not everything is so good. There are some things that should be changed. For example, your map could have less tiny lakes, and you could also add more ornaments in some parts. Okay, I know it's hard, but still there are many things that can be made with the original materials.

Anyway, congratulations. I give 7/10 for your work.
Those screenshots seem eye-catching; I will be trying this hack out in some free time.
I've been playing this for a bit, and I'd say that while it may look rather simple, it does play pretty nicely overall. However, I've noticed that it tends to get a tad repetitive at times, especially in the 4th level (Hyper Bounce Forest), where you have to get across a long pit by bouncing on various note blocks and parakoopas (I kinda got stuck there). I do like how you're trying to focus on certain elements for each level though, just avoid dragging on too much with the same set up or stuff like that.
It's somewhat refreshing to play a "real" vanilla hack like this. Although the level design could be improved it almost feels like the original SMW, and that means a lot. Good job!

Vanilla-ish. Very vanilla-ish!! I'd like to try to this hack on the future, as this looks promising to me. No complaints about the usage of the graphics... :D

Great job!! Looking forward on this hack!
I will try this vanilla hack altough it's a demo I will play it!

From screens levels seems to be nice designed!
This is the first demo, or even a hack, that I've played in a while, and I'm pleased to say that I very much enjoyed it.

I will say that the level design was pretty decent throughout... when I got passed the first level. The first level I found pretty linear and "jump over pipe, jump on goomba" style. However, I am going to consider that it is the first level, and you can't just start off with a "go kill Bowser" type level.

But from that, things went good. I enountered a fair bit of slowdown in Iggy's castle, in the second part with the ball 'n' chains and grinders. That has a pretty fun level overall, though.

Hyper Bounce Forest I found pretty tricky - that last part where you say that there's eight Koopas that you can jump on, combined with the pipes that hold fireball shooting pirhanna plants made that entire section pretty hard. I'll admit now, however, that I'm not the best at playing hacks, so it could just be me. I'd personally say that this level would fit possible better in a later world, maybe world 2 - but that's a cave, I think - as, compared to the other levels in that world, it had a clear difficulty difference.

Can I suggest that you pull away from the display message generator sprites and use the message blocks instead? They always appeared where I didn't expect them and upset my 'flow' of playing, if you get what I mean. Maybe that's just me, though.

But overall, it was a pretty fun demo to play. You made good use of the vanilla resources and it was good. It's good to see some decent, proper vanilla hacks popping up every so often.
Just played through this demo, and this is probably one of the best Vanilla hacks I've played in a while.

In the level called Yellow Switch, the message box shows a blank message. You may want to fix that the next time you update. Other than that though, this is a great start. I'll definitely check the next demo out.

Yeah, I had written something there a bit before I made the IPS, no idea where it went, but I already rewrote it anyway. :P

Thanks for the feedback and support, everyone! I didn't expect my thread to have this many replies. :D
