why? every last ROM I have is headered and is .sfc, so can I still use it?

What's the problem with renaming it?
Your layout has been removed.
You can rename them or remove the header (with a hex editor if necessary).

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
but I don't use asar, I use xkas...

and you can remove the header line at the top of powerup.asm if you want to make it work with a headerless ROM

(please don't turn this in a header vs headerless debate, those were so annoying and pointless in the acmlm days)
well, seeme to work fine... but if I want the powerup to appear, what should I set the tile settng to? (map16)

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Yeah it is. What's your issue with that?

I posted about help with this tool here, but I 'll try the original thread.

Can anyone out there help me get this tool working. I tried everything that I could, but It keeps either corrupting Mario's gfx or freeze whenever I touched a custom powerup. Please someone help. Then I'll make a tutorial myself afterwards to help others who was stuck like me.
I already answered your post in the linked thread

(and I would prefer if all conversation related to the tool stayed in this thread insted of being spread in other thread all over the site...)

patching powerup.asm directly shouldn't cause any problem, you can also use the "delete this powerup" button to remove the one you don't want. also you need to insert the ExGFX and GFX32 that are used by the powerup in LM (for racoon it's $100 and for tanuki it's $103). Any other issue may be caused by patch incompatibility, so I will need a list of all the other patches you applied to your ROM to figure it out

For the sprite frezzing the game, wich block number did you inserted the block as? this is very important since it use the block number to figure out which powerup to give and which graphic to use, so if the number don't match any inserted powerups, you get a glitched mess that freeze the game when you touch it

The only patch I have is the Separate Luigi patch. Thats probably the problem with the Mario gfx's

I set the blocks to 400-40F like one person said.

PowerTool can already handle separate Luigi graphics through the tool alone. Just insert Luigi's GFX file like you would with any other (Ex)GFX file and assign him the correct file number on the GUI.
