I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Chrome, is in fact, KHTML/Chrome, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Blink plus Chrome. Chrome is not an web browser unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning KHTML browser made useful by the KHTML standards, APIs and core libraries comprising a full web browser as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Many internet users run a modified version of the KHTML layout engine software every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of KHTML which is widely used today is often called Chrome, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the KHTML browser, developed by the KHTML Project.
There really is a Chrome, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Chrome is the front-end: the program that the end-user sees that allows them to visit and interact with websites. The front-end is an essential part of an web browser, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete web browser. Chrome is normally used in combination with the KHTML layout engine: the whole system is basically KHTML with Chrome added, or KHTML/Chrome. All the so-called Chrome distributions are really distributions of KHTML/Chrome!
