Weekly-ish Updates on the Status of SMWCP2

I think a progress update a little overdue.

Despite the forums itself show little to no activity, there has been some forward motion progress. A little over a week ago, I handed over the base rom to MrDeePay who is currently going through and fixing some known bugs. If you recall, I did this a while back with edit1754 who gave us some really great effects during his time of holding on to it, so I'm hoping that while its currently in the hands of MDP, we should see a good amount of bugs squashed.

As for progress on other parts of the rom, I recently talked to HFD who is still working on the Norveg boss. I haven't seen much come of it yet other than the gfx from Ladida, but it looks pretty great from what I have seen so far.
Kipernal and Lui have been a bit busy with school and stuff, and hopefully should be able to continue on with their projects as soon as that is done and over with. The jukebox itself is done and works really well I might add, but he wants to make a few adjustments before handing it over.

I think once these 3 main things are complete ( boss, cutscenes and jukebox (4 if you count the credits))I think we can start officially beta testing it.

Thanks for the update since I don't always get a change to read up on everything here and know whats going on with the project and its status.

I really wish I could have made a contribution, but sadly I don't really know much ASM.

My strengths are creating levels, story telling, overall game play design and beta testing.

So one thing I can do is beta test it and give my feedback and suggestions.

Can't wait to see this nearing its completion and big thanks to everyone here who put their time and efforts into this. :)

Also is SMWCP2 going to have CD quality music from the MSU-1 chip?

Will you guys do another version with the MSU-1 so that you can have the awesome music?

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

We have awesome music. Have you listened to it?
And also: no.
Your layout has been removed.
I'm Glad that Jukebox was included in the recent SMWCP2 base rom.
However, three things left, the final boss, intro and credits.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. Mind telling us something we don't already know?

In case you haven't figured it out, the ideas have pretty much been decided on a while ago, and it's just a matter of creating and implementing them in a quality manner at this point. We already know what needs to be done, because Lightvayne has all of these checklists and update notices posted.

Don't worry, we're all sick of this. I've barred him from posting here any longer (which I should have done years ago, honestly).

Update time. If you've been living under a rock the past week or so, then I should probably tell you we finally got the jukebox in, and it works beautifully. Feel free to test it out on the newest base.

We also got a crap load of Layer 3 BG's inserted. This Should take care of all the missing background in the hack, but feel free to let me know if I've missed any.

HFD is making good progress on the Norveg boss. Kipernal is supposedly still wrapping up the cutscenes, and I don't know the progress on the credits, I should probably talk to Ladida about that.... Torchkas still hasn't started the music for said credits, p4 should be working on the status bar fix, and I will be sending a PM to everyone that has had a level reviewed by SNN and needs a few things fixed (and hasn't answered yet). I will be starting that later today.

Haven't given an update since last month so, here it is.

As sort of an update, the same info I posted above still applies. As sort of a new update, all SMWCP2 subforums have been locked to prevent unnecessary tomfoolery.

My only request is that someone please PM me when the official beta testing begins.

I haven't been able to contribute much to this hack, but I sure want to be in the credits as a beta tester.

thanks
The level signups started for this roughly the day I joined this site. Three and a half years of not doing a damn thing for such a crucial project somewhat weighs on your conscious after a while. Then again considering my level design skills, by staying well away I probably did the most good I could ever accomplish.

However, I'd still like to help and I'm interested in beta testing. I couldn't find an official way to say this so I just decided to shout it out here. Also I wanted to make you all reflect on just how much of a truckload of time three and a half years is. I didn't do the maths, but I'm pretty sure it's enough to double the erotic Mario fanfictions out there. Heck, my (very) little brother went from an unstoppable pooping monster to a pretty big Mario fan over the course of this project. Hopefully he'll get to enjoy this.
