Supergirl (2015)

The new TV show for the comic-book heroine Supergirl. My mom started watching it about a week or two ago so I decided to check it out too. It's actually pretty good; a bit cheesy at times and the special effects obviously aren't blockbuster-level but the characters are pretty funny and endearing (like Kara's adorkableness and Cat's... shall we say, "eccentricity"), the dialogue is generally clever and the plot looks like it has potential (although its been mostly episodic so far).

Basically the plot is like in the comics, Supergirl (Kara) is Kal-El's cousin sent to earth to "protect" him but do to getting knocked off course and stuck in the "Phantom Zone" for a while she ended up arriving much later then him. Considering that he didn't need her protection at that point, she decided to stay undercover as a regular human with her adopted sister and secret alien-fighting superspy Alex. A reporter like her more well-known cousin, she works for Catco under its oftentimes eccentric and belittling CEO Cat Grant. But she finds herself drawn into action (as all hereoes and heroines are) to stop a plane-crash and ends up becoming National City's newest (and not always most well-respected) superhero. She's not just Kal-El's cousin. She is Supergirl! *cue dramatic theme music*
