[Non-Level] What inspired you to create your VLDC9 level as it is now?

I just thought that the diagonal grassy platform was underused, so I tried to make a level about it.
i just wanted to make a perfectly normal level
Your hotel is basically the Shining. That's anything but normal.
pokerface's casino level, undoubtedly. The man did an incredible job with the level's visuals, so I decided to try my hand at the theme.

I was thinking that the last c3 was the main inspitration to those casino levels.

I'd decided after last year's contest that I wanted to make a level called Nightswimming. #tb{''}

I had nothing else in mind beforehand - it took a few tries to get the visuals to look appealing, and I had a bit of trouble coming up with a gimmick that worked.

I was re-watching RoahmMythril's Perfect Runs (just the fortress ones, though) and eventually came to Mega Man 5's first fortress. I realized I rather liked the aesthetics of some of the stages and thought maybe it would be interesting to design a level inspired by that (or at least more interesting than the other idea I had for the VLDC, which was a standard volcano level).

----------------

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
The song in Moontop Metonomy is what inspired the level itself.... I'm not sure if I should be ashamed for using the song in a poor stage, or if I should blame the song for creating such an awful stage.

I'M OBVIOUSLY JOKING; it's a decent concept gone wrong.

Me thinks you have just sparked another big argument about your level, hopefully no one bothers to comment about it except for me.
I didn't want to mess too much with the graphics, I only played a bit with the background, mixed some tilesets and that's it.

I wanted to use a level theme that wasn't present in the original SMW, so I went with a swamp, and added layer 3 mist. My levels usually consist in two rooms separated with a midpoint, so I just went with that since I didn't want to go overboard with the design, but I didn't want to make the second half too similar to the first so I made it into a cave and used a completely different set of sprites.
