NSMBWii sound editing?

Hello, I've been getting into NSMBWii hacking (albeit a few years too late) and have had fun making custom levels with Reggie Next. Now, while I haven't tried it (and if it's the same method as with Brawl) I think I know how to modelswap, and I DO know that I can texture swap.

What I am trying to do now is find out how to swap SFX. Because of my experience with Brawl, I know all the sounds are in the soundbank (wii_mj2d_sound.brsar) but the problem comes when, unlike brawl, there is no sawnd file workarounds. So, I thought, "I'll just edit the brsar directly!"

That SEEMS to work okay for SOME sounds (yoshi's sfx, though I havent tried replacing them) but the files I am interested in don't play or export, and seem to disallow importing too. (Mario and Luigi's sfx, along with most other voiced characters)

Assuming this scene isn't 100% dead yet, can a vet of NSMBWii help me out here?

Also, unrelated, but is rvlution.net usually down this often? If I'm remembering correctly, I was able to connect to it fine not long ago.

EDIT: after a few hours of fiddling, I think I've figured out how to access the files with brawlbox. It seems that the SFX under SE aren't actually SFX, but rather what I can only guess are pointers of some kind to actual SFX, which can be found by copying down the BankFile variable of a sfx relating to your sfx. Doing that, Mario's points to BANK/SE/VOC/COURSE/MA, and that tells me I need to go to [98]GROUP/BOOT. So after selecting the BOOT file in the GROUP folder, I select [98]GROUP/BOOT and press Edit File. I'm not sure if replacing these works, as I haven't tried quite yet, but what confuses me is that some group/boot files (for instance, [98]) seem to be identical. Weird.

Anyway, I can now export sounds, I'll see about importing new ones as I explore this strange system.
try asking the folks over at rhcafe instead, you might have better luck since there aren't that many past-or-present nsmbw hackers here
