Samario's Video Game - As Yet Untitled

So I did a C3, and are showing off a new game I'm working on.
It is inspired by "孔明の罠" animation I found on internet.
Relevant Content:

Engine in action

(Probably alternate?) sprites of player character

Tileset alternate version of final world (sky temporary)

It is not very finished, but engine actively developed and will expand over time.
thx to e r i k for layout
Nice indie game. Seems a bit inspired by Undertale, but I'm sure you can maybe make it a little cooler than Undertale's graphics. Other than that, keep up the good work!
Just so you know, I'm very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now.

This is looking pretty awesome so far. Cant wait to see more work from this!
Layout by LDA during C3.
Very nice :D I can see this being put on Steam or something lol
Great to see something new.
There's not a lot to comment on yet since what you've soon is basic enough, but it's a start and I commend you for working on something like this. Especially since I need to.

So what are the gimmicks going to be?

Did you write this engine yourself or are you using something else?

What's the language you're writing it in?

Like falconpunch said it reminds me of Undertale, is it going to go for a similar vibe like that game? It's obviously not going to be an RPG like Undertale, unless you have a few tricks up your sleeve.

I'm awful at shading, so my style tends toward the "simple colours" UT style.

Gimmicks: it's going to be a Kaizo game, so there's going to be your fair share of, well, dick moves, but I do plan to shake the gameplay up a bit in certain situations.

Engine: Written by me.

Language: Game Maker Studio.

Similar vibe to Undertale?: Nah. Due to it being a platformer rather than an RPG, it's a more traditional "get to the end of the stage, and survive the STAGE CLEAR screen" thing.

I do not see the undertale anywhere.
(Yeah I must admit I jumped the gun on the undertale thing, sorry)

Kaizo game sounds interesting. Now I'm thinking you might be a little bit more inspired by something like I Wanna Be the Guy? I hope it's not going to be on that level of difficulty though.

Game Maker is pretty good, I need to use that more often (I must admit I'm incredibly fucking lazy and should be making my own games...). I assume you're using the software itself and not just the language?

It's pretty much impossible to use GML on it's own (heck, you can make a Game Maker game without ever using GML), so yes.

This looks interesting, even with the lack of stuff to show, and the art style seems simple but effective. What I want to know is what do you mean by Kazio? Is it going to be hard-as-nails, memorisation required difficulty or is the game going to be filled to the brim with I Wanna Be The Guy style traps?

Layout by Koopster!

I plan to have it mostly around what we'd term as Kaizo: Normal, probably dipping toward Kaizo: Hard by world 8 and Pit in some of the bonus worlds.

Little of column A, little of column B - you've got the very precise jumps, but you've also got the "there's no way you could have known that was coming" traps.

But seriously, reading a tutorial on shading and such wouldn't hurt.
