Hey guys, while I don't have an exact demo, I do have one level that I'd love to show, this is gonna be the sunken ghost ship for my kaizo hack (title above). I started on this hack in 2007 and hit a "writer's block" around 2012 and since then haven't been able to continue working on it but I thought I'd show off what I have so far, if there's anything you think could be a bug or a way to break the level please let me know. The finished level I'm debating on giving multiple midway/checkpoints so we'll see. Enjoy!

Also for people that are OCD about floating/stacked Munchers, yeah no. The hack started in the earliest of smw romhacking and while it doesn't have 16x16 blocks of munchers I'm sure people will still complain but I tried to keep it as little as the Kaizo series did and not go overboard like Intrigue did.

I was thinking more along the lines of playing it and trying to break it rather than seeing the layout.

You already beat it that fast? Can I see a vid of how you did it? The level has... multiple paths... *evil laugh* This level is essentially my Resident Evil 7 demo minus the updates if anyone gets what I mean.

Lol no I didn't finish the whole thing. Also I used an ok amount of savestates. It would take a while to learn rta. I might be able to make a video at some point if you want.

Has anyone beaten this? Any reviews? Vids? Please everyone, not all at once, jokes aside, for reals guys. I know its nothing TOO special since I kept it as standard as possible and reminiscent of 07 kaizo hacks but it's meant to be old school, not all fancy like todays.

I played it a bit, got to a blue shell, didn't know what to do with it and stopped.
As for breaks I didn't see any obvious ones so far but just like Jay I'm not going to actually look for breaks while only being able to view 16 x 14 blocks at a time.

Oh and btw you can get stuck in the infinite bonus game if you go back into the pipe in a certain way where the blue shell is. You might want to fix that.

If you happen to go into the pipe from below (which is possible because the ground is rising) you end up in level 0 (Well, where you end up in the end is determined by whatever is in $1AB7/$1AD7, which btw is part of item memory so you could potentially wrong warp with it as well)

I can't reproduce this glitch and I've never heard of it before. It's a sideways pipe and I've tried entering it at different heights when the ship rises and sinks. I've even looked in the patches section to search for a fix but couldn't find one to my knowledge.

Well, the glitch is caused by being off the left edge when changing rooms because then you're technically in screen "FF" which doesn't exist. Simply moving the pipe one more to the right fixes it no need for a patch.

Oh that glitch, yeah I once had a door at the edge of a screen and it took my to the secondary entrance of the door I had in that screen. You're talking about the room with a single horizontal pipe and blue shell right? And how are you getting there, by going under the pipe before you get squished by the rising ship, then getting to the left most spot and entering it thru the right? I'm still confused, I'd ask for a gif but idk if you have a save state already and playing the level itself is tedious just to get a point visualized for this.
Also you're supposed to take the shell and on the third ship there's a warp hole sprite which will teleport you inside the ship to be able to go under the yellow pipe you see there, there's a small part of water that's safe to swim in, after that, you're 1 third of the way finished with the level, a maze follows once you reach the checkpoint.

You'd think that wouldn't happen anyway but I actually did not try to do it the first time I played it.

How are you supposed to figure that out? I mean the first thing you think when you reach that most likely isn't "there is probably an invisible sprite that teleports me inside the ship and the water down there won't kill me if I jump far enough right"
Or was there some kind of hint I missed?

Also, the warp sprite causes cutoff.

Damn, I never knew that could even happen, I mean if it was a vertical level I could see that but... damn... Guess it has to do with how far he warps and disappear.

Believe it or not the base of this level is actually a beta level found somewhere in the rom (or it could be some fake lunar magic shit I found whatever the case is, it's an interesting level). I can't remember where I exactly found it but it was an interesting design for the original sunken ghost ship ship on Nintendo's part where they even utilized the warp sprite and the transparent level mode. Also it's understandable, I'm trying to find some way to hint that out without completely giving it away, maybe on the death water animate it differently than the regular water. By cutoff do you mean it causes object cutoff or frame cutoff? The frame seems like no big deal especially with how it's utilized in this particular level.

Is it possible for you to continue still and see what awaits?

Looks like:

and stays until you screen it off and go back.
If the camera jumps too far in one frame it can't update vram properly and leaves stuff behind causing this cutoff (Interaction still works fine it's just the graphics that aren't updated properly)
