whats 12f

Just look it up...
It's a muncher
i think i'm with what some other people have said; at this point it's more of a supplementary element to a primary gimmick or set of enemies than anything. levels that focus solely on 1f0 lost their novelty, it would be smarter to have 1f0 be another way of coming up with unique obstacles within your level's central theme.

It's not even new, it's been well known for years, it was used in VLDC8 a little bit and then again in VLDC9.

I remember Sokobansolver's level in VLDC7 used it too. Probably goes even further back than that (Morsel mentioned 2006).

I like tile 1F0, despite making jokes about it all the time in the VLDCX forum. It's very much a neat, underused (until recently) gimmick that people who are competent can do some pretty impressive stuff with. Pyro's level this year is the best use I've seen of it thus far, and if other people can follow suit, then that would be pretty awesome.

I don't think there's so much a "hate" for it, but rather, as other people have mentioned, it seems like everyone and their dog is jumping on the 1F0 bandwagon. If you want to impress people with it at this point, you have to take the gimmick a step further and utilize it in unique and exciting ways. Sadly, most people who have just discovered it this year are using it in a bare-bones fashion and not reaching the creative level required to wow people.
Ludus also used a corner tile behavior in his "105 Days" level, don't recall if it's from VLDC5 or VLDC6. Either way, I've also accidentally discovered this weird tile behavior when I started hacking SMW and messed up my Map16, though in that time I thought it was a patch that caused a problem.

Anyway, I also like tiles 1F0/1F8/1E2/1E4/1EB/similars depending on how they're used. I prefer them being used very little, just to add a different touch in a certain place or with a certain gimmick, over using them too often or even as the main level gimmick.

My stance on 1F0, memes aside, is basically SNN and Merc's posts tbh

That's also my stance towards every level design meme/bandwagon inside and outside of VLDC

Barely anyone does anything new with it, "spice it up" if you will, and it just ends up becoming violently despised by the general community for being ran into the ground faster than a hydraulic press crushing my balls into a bloody pulp, just like all the other "level design memes" ended up

there's really no reason to hate 1F0 itself; how good it is depends entirely on how creative the level designer is

Honestly, since VLDC9 ended, I've seen all the people talk about how it's overused and zero people still use it. :V

I think roughly one third of all VLDCX entries I've seen uses it.
Your layout has been removed.
let's see how long it takes for people to hate tile 130

It's basically a bug, so on that grounds I kinda immediately dislike it. Though, on a deeper level, I think there are pretty big issues with it acting somewhat inconsistently. It's really not obvious how it works, especially not with vanilla graphics, leading every level to introduce differently how this block works. It also acts unlike anything a person would actually have reference for in real life. There is some precedence for that, watermelon blocks, for instance, but even in that case, they graphically convey what they are trying to do to some degree. I think I also am not a fan of sprite only blocks for this same reason. It just feels weird that some things can magically pass this barrier while others can't. I don't think that's a dynamic that I've actually seen outside of smw hacks, and I think there's a reason for that.
