Do you sometimes say "lol" or similar acronyms when you are not actually laughing?

I sometimes do exactly this.
half the time I say lmao I don't even actually think it's funny

it's like sitcom laughter in internet text form
humph heh
I just use the word at the end ot a sentence sometimes when i'm not in an all serious mood or want to sound more light hearted in a serious conversation about me.
lol no I don't XD

Most of the time when I say lol, I actually laughed. The only situations where I didn't laugh were when I was in a situation where I couldn't make much noise. On a slightly different note, do you get annoyed when people say "lol" out loud? I do.
*everything stops*
Yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation...

Yea I do. It seems to be more of an acknowledgement that someone tried to be funny regardless of whether you found it funny or not.
I refuse to lie to my internet friends. "lol" is usually a sensible chuckle. Others, such as "lel" or "rofl", carry different weights (a short sneer or smirk and a full out chuckle, respectively). Have integrity in your lols.
I do that literally all the time. Probably too much for my own good :P
I just use it to express a form of non-seriousness, playfulness or friendliness. it's not easy to express feelings on the internet.
Seems like it helps a lot in a way I can't explain.

So in short, I don't use it when I'm laughing.
I tend to mention how much I'm laughing when I'm actually doing it.
Хуй войне!

I don't associate "lol" with having laughed, it's just an expression like many others that fit within a certain context. Especially in posts it can mean more than a laugh from yourself an expectancy that the reader will laugh, or just an indicator that you wrote something funny or wacky.

I never paid too much attention, but in real time conversations, when I write it legitimately I'm probably at least smiling for having a joyful talk. But I admit to have been fake about it at least a few times.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

no, but seriously, I kinda say lol outta context a bit too much, and its probably time to stop

I don't find myself using "lol" as a sign that I'm laughing, but more in a not so serious way or just when I want to be lighthearted about something. It just depends on the context.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
lmao no
No, not really.

But honeslty when I say "lol" it's just a little giggle and not actually laughing out loud. When I really mean it I spell "LOL" instead.

Sometimes I even say "L.O.L." when I am not even laughing.
lol is for scoffing, LOL is for chuckling and meming, lmao for actually laughing
i dont use abbreviations. Sick of these internet kids bastardizing the english language with their incessant shortcuts

e: I will typically send the person that made me laugh a private message informing them that i am currently laughing and it is their responsibility.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Usually, I say lol when I actually find something funny, but not funny enough to make me use an rofl or lmao, although I've occasionally stuck a few useless lols in my posts, but that hasn't really happened with other acronyms, though. For some reason, it just sounds better to say "yeah lol" than just "yeah" in my opinion.
