yay more meaningless change with no level development in sight!

the idea behind it is that each box is it's own thing. left box is essentials (health and death counter), center box is related to the current level (coins would go into left box if they fit...), right box is roulette

inspired by leod's 100 coin roulette patch, when you get 100 coins, your health increases by 1 and the roulette starts. so even if you fail the roulette, you still won something.

prizes:

3 onigiri = max health (if already max or close to max, give coins)
3 spicy sushi = temporary powerup (the only powerup in the game that isn't level-specific)
3 dango = temporary invincibility
777 = all of the above + reroll
3 ika = spawn ika above you

remember that there are no standard ways to increase your health besides collecting coins, so the roulette is very very useful


and yeah, i figured song name is more useful to show on a status bar than level name since you see the latter before entering the level. if the song name is too long, it will "scroll"


the status bar will still be customizable, though no background images or anything like i had planned with the previous version #ab{;_;} (opted for functionality rather than appearance)



off-topic: something im planning on is a "sauce mode". when you press select while the game is paused, a cursor appears and you can scroll over sprites and stuff to see more info on it (the character, the series, small bio, whatever). it's just an idea for now though; i'll work on it maybe near the end of development

I really like how the status bar looks. Reminds me of the one in Mario Adventure (An SMB3 hack). I look forward to seeing the roulette in action.

i have replaced the title screen and overworld with a television where you basically scroll through "channels" aka levels and then yeah you just select the level you want to enter. levels that you havent unlocked will show static

tv itself is designed after an old trinitron

i copied the gradient code from the smwcp2 credits (the colored pencils scene). i made that code anyways and im lazy so

The television title screen is an amazing idea and its execution looks absolutely brilliant.

Honestly I didn´t expect any new posts about this hack, so it is wonderful to see, that this isn´t cancelled.
