Super Wakana Land - Hack is ready for C3, final testing needed

Posting also for a few announcements.

First, the hack is like 80% done. If uni classes won't eat me alive, I'm expecting the relase date for next C3.
Second, there are like 2-3 spots left in the SMWC Hub. You're still in time to send me a .bin, .pal and a message if you didn't already!

Not sure if I'll be showing off much more here, although I rarely post some progress in SMWC Discord's #showoff. Keep an eye there I guess?

Posting also to request help: I need someone who's good enough with ASM which is up to code the final boss of the hack. Everything, GFX included, is already planned. If you feel like giving it a go, PM me. I can pomise you some port requests if you wish, as well as a special place in the hub (if you want, I could mix some palettes to make room for you only).

Sorry for not showing much atm, but as I said, hack is kinda 90% done. All I need to do is adding some extra sectrets here and there + massive testing.

Small thing: can you edit the "MP" counter not to automatically trigger the invincibility, there are situations where MP items cannot be avoided and forced to use it.

Also, avoid making it loop back to 00, as that will prevent the player from shooting projectiles after "grabbing MP too much", like make it cap at 99.

Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot this was an issue, so I'll surely implement it.
You welcome, there is a ROM address that caps it at 99 (by making it decrement by 1 when incremented by 1, canceling the collection):

Imagine in RPG games that instead of capping your MP, they decided to punish the player that excess will loop the value to 0 and force-use a MP-required attack.

Another thing is that while blocks that spawn sprites on the player's hand (such as throw blocks), they don't trigger the MP-based attack, grabbing other sprites still does (forcing me to waste them just to pick it up). There is a patch that makes it easier to work with (may have to edit the ROM to make sprites only check a seperate button from the control that makes you attack).

Right now the hack is 99% completed. The only things left are pretty much the final boss (which has still no asmer yet #tb{D'X}) and some minor fixes that have to be done here and there.

I'm posting here to announce that there will be a closed beta soon™. If you're interested in testing, PM me and I'll consider you for when I'll start the massive testing period.
Side note: the hack contains mature content. If you're not atleast +18, then don't even PM me lol.

Again, sorry for not posting any screenshot and etc; since the hack is almost complete, I'd rather keep everything secret until you get to play the actual thing lol.

Also @GHB all the issues you mentioned have been fixed: now Wakana grabs objects with L; the MPs cap at 99; I also added a new ability: the slide.

Sorry for the low FPS lol, but as you can see, as soon as you slide, you get "trasparent" and sparkly, and you're immune to any hazard. Obviously, the ability costs MPs; you also need to have atleast 20MP to enable the sliding ability.

The sliding was there in a previous version, though I had to remove the star power trigger since I'm too lazy to change every sprite I'm using to not glitch up when hit by a star it caused many issues. I believe this power is still fair. Let me know what you think!
interesting feature, might be useful to get through small gaps through walls and also dodge some projectiles

about the L to grab... i'd suggest for both L and R, unless you plan to put the slide at R button, then i got no argument...

This is most likely the last post I'll be making in this thread.

I'm happy to announce that Super Wakana Land reached its final state! I took care of issues addressed by my testers and fancified things here and there.

The hack is ready for C3, although, in order to consider it 100% done, I'm in need of testers again. Feel free to PM me here or poke me on Discord, and once I'll take care of tiny extra things, the final testing will start.

The hack is 69 exits, and it's very, very demanding to 100%. Don't poke me at all if you can't hold long hacks.
Also, be aware, that the hack has mature content and disturbing imagery, so don't poke me if you're easily offended by these.
I'll be making a Discord server for testers; if you'll be picked, you'll be contacted and invited in it.


I'll share a few random screens of the actual progresses, to keep the hype high I guess.
