The Twelve Movies of Christmas (2017 edition!)

Starting today, I'll be posting the best
(or possibly, the worst)
movies for this year, around 10:00 PM PHT or earlier than 10PM in the evening. This follows the usual Twelve Days of Christmas pattern, but except it starts at today, December 26th, the day after Christmas Day, up to January 6th, Three Kings Day.

So let's start with...

Bright
Thriller film/Fantasy | 1h 57m

Initial release: 22 December 2017 (USA)
Director: David Ayer
Budget: 90 million USD
Screenplay: Max Landis
Music composed by: Junkie XL, Dave Sardy
Quote
In an alternate present day, humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.

There's nothing wrong with the Fantasy/Thriller combo for this film. Although that it's a Netflix exclusive, you better get some popcorn and a TV (and a Netflix subscription, too!) to watch the movie and chill out. And yes, this is how Netflix & Chill looks like.

Next up on the list is something that's super scary.

It
Horror | 2h 15m

Release date: 8 September 2017 (USA)
Director: Andrés Muschietti
Quote
Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare -- an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town's children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise.

Do you have coulrophobia? Then, you have to avoid watching this movie because Penny looks scarier than Touhou Project's very own Clownpiece...or maybe that darn fastfood clown guy.

It is good. It's probably not one of the most scary movies out there. As a horror movie non-fan, I quite enjoyed it.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
This time, I'll be posting the next movie for this thread. Also, this is the first time I decided to post this thing later than 10PM, oh boy.

Baby Driver
Action/Suspense | 1h 53m

Initial release: 28 June 2017 (USA)
Director: Edgar Wright
Music composed by: Steven Price
Quote
Talented getaway driver Baby relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After meeting the woman of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his shady lifestyle and make a clean break. Coerced into working for a crime boss, Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

With the combined power of awesome music, intense action and huge amount of suspense, Baby Driver is a one heckuva rollercoaster ride of action films! Trust us, you don't know that you're blown off from the edge of the seat while watching and listening to fresh beats? Hrm... Further research might be necessary.

Ugh... Another one...

Baywatch

I think my grandpa runs faster than this movie??? Er... not even quite. And oh, have you ever seen that scene where Zac Efron was singing Katy Perry's "Roar"? LUL

When I tried posting the 5th part of my thread, I realized it was December 31st rather than December 30th so...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.

I AM GROOT.
[Translation: Despite the flaws, GotG Vol. 2 is one of best superhero movies for this year (not as best than The Avengers). Hmmm... maybe we could sign to babysit Groot? Only time may know.

rip 2017

you'll be missed good sir

Okay, ANOTHER ONE!!!
(Nope, I'm not DJ Khaled, promise...)

Atomic Blonde

Once there, she teams up with an embedded station chief to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

You probably seeing some vgame female protagonists like Shantae, Hat Kid, Samus Aran and Sash Lilac, but have you seen a badass movie female protagonist? Yup, that's Lorraine Broughton, and, dude, she looks awesome! [slowly claps]

ive watched IT a couple of days ago.. and that was terrible (at least if you watch it as a Horror movie)
i guess if you have the same age as the protagonists the movie is fine, otherwise its just laughtable.
Its an Adventure movie at most.

It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
Sorry for the delays, but here's my first post for this year!

Blade Runner 2049
Fantasy/Mystery/Action | 2h 44m

Release date: 6 October 2017 (Worldwide...sorta)
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Film series: Blade Runner Film Series
Cinematography: Roger Deakins
Quote
Officer K, a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former blade runner who's been missing for 30 years.

A sequel to the original Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049 is a must have for 80's kids and moviegoers. And yes, the 80's era is on fleek where the video game sales became larger thanks to the efforts of Nintendo. And of course, your DVD player is about to explode in 3, 2, 1...

BONUS MOVIE (stuff that's not the part of the list):
La La Land
Drama/Romance | 2h 8m

Release date: 9 November 2016 (Philippines)
Director: Damien Chazelle
Quote
Sebastian and Mia are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

Why La La Land? Maybe, you should stop asking for questions for this since it was released back in 2016. But in 2017, during the Oscars, it was mistakenly announced as "Best Picture" rather than Moonlight. Epic fail!

Whaddya think? Discuss.
Another one! But this time around, I'll be posting the 8th part of this thread earlier than 10 PM!

Coco...
Fantasy/Mystery | 1h 49m

Initial release: 27 October 2017 (Mexico)

Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

...is the movie what we know about Latin American culture. Yes, 2017 is about LatAm-inspired music like Despacito, Mi Gente and among others. And OF COURSE, did we mention about that frustrating Frozen short before the movie starts during Coco's theatrical release? Duh.

Not to be confused with the one that was released years and years ago, MLP:TM is a tie-in to the 4th-gen My Little Pony toy line. Rather than using the voice actors from the Friendship is Magic TV series, MLP the Movie features characters voiced by popular celebrities like Emily Blunt, Sia, Zoe Saldana, etc. Ehhh, can I get a popcorn?! #fim{TTwTT}

For the first time ever, I'll be posting the two films for the 10th day of Christmas...

Justice League
Fantasy/Science fiction film | 2 hours | Official website

Initial release: November 2017 (Worldwide)
Director: Zack Snyder
Quote
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

This is the first part of the Justice League movie series. We can't wait to see more of the action in the sequels, so stay tuned for that! And oh, did you know that the movie had an estimated budget of 300 MILLION USD and 652.9 MILLION USD in its box office record? (Justice League is the second-most-expensive film ever made, according to Wikipedia.)

la la land was a 2016 film but its also really good.

this list reminds me of how little i cared about the mainstream films this year. just so many superhero films each year that it's gotten so exhausting.

still wanna see blade runner, looks really good. denis villeneuve is a pretty interesting director as well.
Last one!!!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Fantasy/Science fiction film | 2h 35m

Release date: 15 December 2017 (Philippines)
Director: Rian Johnson
Quote
Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.

The movie in all of Star Wars movies! Oh, you better look out for Porg, too. It's cute! Also, this movie is a tribute to Carrie Fisher, a.k.a. the OG Princess Leia. (R.I.P., you'll be missed.)
