PROJECT SUNSHINE - A Mario Sunshine / 64 Engine

Hello everyone! This is a project of mine that I have started a few days ago in Unity. It's called Project Sunshine! It is meant to be an open-source engine meant for everyone to use, but at this time it is closed source while it is being worked on.

The Sunshine Engine will feature many aspects from Super Mario Sunshine, as well as some from Super Mario 64, but with Gamecube-esque graphics. Shine Sprites, Platforms-a-plenty, General Mario Enemies. I plan to add as much as I can.

Development started on January 09th, 2015. So far quite a bit has been done in this small amount of time. Let me share with you what has been done, and what is currently being worked on. I'll only be tackling small bits at a time to cause less confusion.

DONE
• Nothing is 100% done.

CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS

• Movement - It's a bit finicky right now. Reworking the code.
• Hud - Some HUD elements are in already, but only a small amount actually works
• Death - Working on 'dying' in the engine.
• Health - Working on the health system.

NEEDS TO BE DONE
• Various amounts of stuff

Pretty neat I see here well done :). If I were you doing this, I wouldn't even do a single thing of coding the engine. Keep it up and this project will get better every time
I would like to suggest that you use mario galaxy´s Mario model with its animations. Since these are the best animations and model for mario I have seen in all the games. (Or I could add it myself)

I originally wanted to use the sunshine model, as this is a Sunshine engine.

Also with the release of UE4, I might switch over to that and use that to make this. It's much more powerful and completely free, unlike Unity.
Yeah, UE4 is a great and powerful engine. But it is also very demanding, so unless you put a lot of time and effort into performance optimization, the game will most likely only run on powerful PCs. Even on minimum graphical settings, I couldn't get UE4 to run smoothly on my home PC. I didn't have many performance problems with Unity, though.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!

When creating a project, it asks you if you want to have high quality textures and models, or lower poly (for mobile devices.) I'll be using the lower poly one, and I'll be sending out betas for people to test it, and come up with a min pc requirements. I'll try to keep it low though.
Talking about free stuff, they just released Unity 5 yesterday and it seems as though they finally made it so that even the Free Version of Unity now contains all of the engine's features (with the Pro license you now only get better support, Profiling tools, a custom splash screen and stuff like that, but the engine features themselves all seem to be unlocked even in Unity Personal Edition). So, I guess, if the price was what kicked Unity out of consideration before, it may now be back into consideration. Which is not to say that you should use Unity, of course. I love UE4 and am a big fan of it. Just informing you that there is yet another option since yesterday. #w{=D}

Yes, I realized Unity5 released a day after UE4, and I have played with both, but not enough to determine which I should use.
Is this project still up and running, or what?
PLEASE continue the project, i am really interested on what the community can do with a GREAT game.#smw{^_^}
