Smw DLC beta test SMW DLC v.09.9.E Ready

SMW DLC v.09.9.E.bps
Attention LPer's PLEASE don't LP this beta version. I appreciate watching the videos but it is unfair for the authors to find out their mistakes by seeing it on a YouTube video for the world to see. Please wait until ll the final version is finished!

Thank you Lukacpatrick for putting this rom together and helping along the way.
Note to authors, the screenshots are completely random if you don't see yours it's nothing personal against your work.

Known Issues

There is still one level that remains unchanged.
Bug:

Normal exit activates secret exit, and when I get secret exit afterwards it doesn't activate the normal exit and thus Im stuck here(unless I take secret exit in dount plains 1).

Cutoff:

Dunno what else to say since this is contest/collab(I haven't checked the main thread so I have no idea what this hack is supposed to be)? So far level design is very amateur-ish even for vanilla hack so I'll stop here.

(in case pics wont show up, click here)
Um yeah that cutt off is mine.. Oops.
I think I know secret issue.
Also level 24 will be bugged because of a missing patch.

People may want to hold off on playing this yet..

I've finally fixed my computer( I think) I'm new to Linux so I'll need a day or two to get used to it.I have gotten LM to run so I should be good.
Ok, I have version .09.9.D ready!
You may notice I haven't left a link, it's ok don't be scared!
I only want to release to 1 person at a time, because there is bound to be a couple more versions and I don't want to wear everyone out on the first one. So if your interested say so below, and I'll give the link. If I don't hear back in 5 days, I'll assume you got busy, bored, lazy, forgot etc..(it's ok it happens) And I'll ask the next person in line. And this doesn't mean the hack testing has to be done in 5 days, just some kinda acknowledgement counts.

Oh by the way I think valley of bowser 4 is either impossible or for robots. It may need to be made easier or scrapped. That's the only known issue...
We need more feedback, especially world 4 up.
I have left SMW DLC v.09.9.D.bps in my file bin!
Introduction -
Welp, I'm burnt out, and I'm not even done yet! Anyways, I got up to Forest of Ilussions, and I'm gonna stop there for now. There's only so much I can do. Maybe I'll come back to this later...

For a Vanilla Hack it isn't bad, however, the quality between levels fluctuates quite a bit. So while most levels are good there are a few bad ones.

-------------

Major Issue 1 - Yoshi Coins:

I'll be quick with this, but the following levels have issues with Yoshi Coins -

- Yoshi's Island 1 - The vine to collect 4th Yoshi doesn't always spawn due to sprite limitations.
- Donut Plains 4 - Only has 4 Yoshi Coins.
- Vanilla Secret 1 - Has 6 Yoshi Coins.
- Butter Bridge 1 - Has one random Yoshi Coin in it.
- Vanilla Dome 2 - Has 6 Yoshi Coins.
- Cheese Bridge Area - Only has 2 Yoshi Coins.
- Star Road 4 - Has one random Yoshi Coin in it.
- Cookie Mountain - Only has 4 Yoshi Coins.

-------------

Major Issue 2 - The Overworld:

Fix your damn map! Replace it with a custom one if you have to. Just make it work! Trying to list all the issues would make this list way too long, but I'll list some anyways.

Your Paths are broken. Really broken. A quarter of the time the next level path wouldn't even appear.

Also, your Yellow Switch Palace disappeared for some reason. [See Figure 1]

Figure 1, Missing Switch Palace.

-------------

Major Issue 3 - Getting Stuck:

There are a lot of ways to get stuck in your hack. Here are, but a few that I found:

Figure 2, Turnblocks & Shells.

Figure 3, If You Hit The Flying ?-Block, You Can't Continue Without Taking Damage.

Figure 4, You Can Swim Under Level With Water Physics, Leading To Situations Like These.

Figure 5, If You Do Just The Right Actions You Can Get Stuck Here.

Figure 6, Ran Out of Time With That P-Switch? Too Bad.

Figure 7.1, If The Player Fails This There Is No Reset, Only Death.

Figure 7.2, Here's a fun fact: Did You Know Directional Coins Only Work Once Per Level? Making This Level Impossible Without a Cape.

Figure 8, Small Mario Can't Break Turn Blocks When He Spin Jumps. Eh, I'm half-asleep. Don't blame me.

-------------

Other Notable Issues:

Here's a bunch of fairly crucial things you need to fix:

- I can't seem to find Star Road 2's Secret Exit. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I've looked in Lunar Magic, and still couldn't find it.
- Vanilla Dome Fortress has Water Physics for the Reznor Battle, leading to many, many of deaths during the level complete screen. As Mario will slowly float down into the lava.
- Add a ceiling or something to Butter Bridge 1 as you can stay off-screen the entire time and never get hurt.
- Due to some REALLY crappy design, it is near impossible not to get hit/killed at the end of Vanilla Dome 4, especially with Yoshi.
- Most doors in the hack do not accommodate Yoshi. I don't want to leave Yoshi behind!
- Way too many Eeries in Vanilla Ghost House's second section. The platforming is already hard enough without any extra obstacles!

Figure 9, What The Hell Was This Level Anyways. This Part Is The Most Stupid Though.

-------------

Other Misc. and Other Less Urgent Issues:

There are just a few more little things to point out:

- Cookie Mountain's Bonus area is weird.

Figure 10, This Parakoopa Troopa Flys Off Screen, Making It Hard To Judge When It Is.

Figure 11, MORE SPRITE LIMITS!

Figure 12, Nice Yoshi.

Figure 13, Mushroom, Meet Wall.

Figure 14, Layer 2 Cutoff.

Figure 15, I'd Suggest Moving The Version Number Here. Makes The Bottom Of The Screen Less Cramped.

-------------

Summary -

For a Vanilla Hack, it was quite relaxing to play. However, that does not excuse the major glaring issues. To think I'm not done yet is... something. So, I'll have to come back with more.

But till then, bye.

But you can enter another room to get that mushroom, so really, you're not stuck.

I don't see how that's an issue. After all, the original SMW had levels with 6 or more dragon coins (DONUT SECRET 1 & GNARLY for example).

Though, there is one huge problem that you didn't bring up. CHOCOLATE ISLAND 2 is impossible. No matter what you do, the main pipe will always lead you to instant death. That and the fact that STAR WORLD 5 doesn't have secret exit for some reason is what led me to quit playing what would otherwise be a pretty fun hack.
When I get done rubbing my forehead, ill see what I can do..
Thank-you for the testing. Wii2 is there anyway you know which level numbers these are?
Lucayorlando,
Common practice is 5 Yoshi Coins to a level, the 2 levels in the original SMW with 6 Yoshi Coins were most likely a mistake. Also, the reason why I didn't mention Chocolate Island 2 is:

I went ahead and fixed some stuff, If you want to fix your own post the mwl files!
If any is able to, I'm lacking a huge amount of input from forest on.
Is this hack still being worked on and will it soon be finalized?

I found a problem in the Chocolate Island 2 level.

Entering this pipe:

leads to this problem:

seems like Mario did not come out of the pipe correctly and instantly dies.

shorten the green pipe a little more to the left or fix the position where Mario comes out of the pipe
Sorry if I bumped this thread, but I have cheese fixed in level EC. You didn't have to smash the turn block after taking the mushroom. Sending you DSH with the boss battle finished by Latios!

Donut Secret House with the boss battle.
