The entire year is not planned out in advance. Events will be added to the calendar as we plan them, and some events may be planned and started so spontaneously that they won't be added to the calendar ahead of time.

Feel free to discuss events and suggest new ones in this thread. You can also send event suggestions through PM to any Public Relations person. If you want to discuss an event being held in 2018, use the 2018 Event Calendar thread instead, or that event's discussion thread if it has one.
I thought that it was already confirmed that BLDC will happen instead of VLDC11. If either happens, I'm gonna do my best!

Strong "Pun of the Year" contender right there. PR team, take note!
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!

why are the "best" puns literally the ones that are so cryptic that only a few people will get it tho #wario{-_-?}

anyone can make a really obvious pun

everybody's caught up in all the puns but nobody has realized that / is also an option
Are you could bring back old contests like the Halloween one?
I think that if big contest like VLDC needs more planning and time, small contests would be great to amuse the community.
Exclusive content and nostalgia!
The Event Calendar you see there doesn't have the whole year planned out in advance. As the months go by we'll be planning more things and adding them to the calendar. Smaller contests are always good to have because they can be handled in much less time than the big site contests, but we don't usually plan them too far in advance so it's hard to predict when they'll be on there for the year.

Perhaps this (or an abbreviated version) should be added to the initial post? I mean, it should be obvious, that not everything is planned in advance, but for some newbies it would be good, to make it clear directly, that the event calendar isn't final?

Whatever, i'm curious what events will be eventually held.

That's a very good idea, actually. I'll slap something in the OP about that.

+1 for me. Maybe also the 12 Days before Christmas contest would be good to bring back too.

Im also in favor of the 12 Days before Christmas contest, even though I never participated in it before. Would be interesting to see various level themes be posted to make.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Projects I support:

How about an Automatic Level Design Contest? The last one was 2016, I think

Automatic Level Design Contest?

If all are small and good SMW contests, I'm in to join anyone!! But tbh, I would prefer more a HLDC, man, I love halloween and how it's dark and good. (I already told that what motivated me most to start hacking SMW was an scary entry?)
I'm definitely open to the idea of another Automatic Level Design contest. Obviously since I'm fairly new to public relations shiz on this site it would be my first one, but they looked super fun when I watched the entries!

the plan was for bldc, yes. however, since we didn't hear anything from vitor about how lunar magic 3.00 would change hacking / create incompatibilities / what not, we do not have time to properly plan this february event in the same capacity as is listed on the 2019 event calendar. i'm sorry for this, but we were left in the dark and it's been really hectic for us to sort things out. this may result in things being pushed back quite a bit further, it might not.

i'll release a statement january 1st about all the changes this will have on the events for 2019, so until then just be patient, thanks.
When VLDC11 gets confirmed, I'll be extremely happy since I couldn't finish my entry for VLDCX in time and I'm impatiently waiting for the next one. Though I'm curious about BLDC, what this abbreviation means and whether it's like VLDC, but some custom resources are added to base ROM.

VLDC11 with Lunar Magic 3.0 will be epic, but will be unnecessary to add complex patches and OW sprites.
Only to make the event like the VLDC7 would be better.
SMWCentral won't repeat the same mistake from VLDCX.

Anyone agrees?
I said this before and I stand by it more than ever: I think VLDC is a brand that needs to retire. Now definitions of vanilla are even more discussable, and I'd be more than happy to honestly just not have any need to classify something as vanilla or not in the first place.
If we are to have something like VLDC (no custom resources contest), I think we should at the very least rename it.
Mostly a semantics concern but yeah.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
As long as OLDC repeats in 2019 I'll be happy. VLDC is too far from being Vanilla.
