I've been kind of working on this project for the past year or so. It's finally where I consider it acceptable to release it.

It's currently only 1 world(5 levels}, but I plan to make it much longer in the future Though I'm actually not sure exactly how long I want this hack to be, yet.

Almost all of the GFX are drawn by me, with the exception of a few leftover things from the original SMW. Honestly, my pixel art skills aren't too great, I'm hoping to improve over time. Gotta start somewhere lol

Atta boy drawing your own gfx, the same old downloadable ones get old after a while. Of course, messing with map16 makes some interesting tiles as well #smw{x_x}

It's good, but does this game have a story or plot? The graphics you draw are acceptable, so I'm really excited..

Agreed, I also feel like drawing your own GFX offers a more unique, memorable experience for the player.

It does!
Here it is, directly from the game:

once upon at time, in a land called Euphionia,
there was a Woman named "Skolorie",
which means "Savior of worlds"

Euphionia was a region on the planet named "Euketia"
Which is in the "Eunia galaxy".

Skolorie lived within the Metranian Forest.
a forest known for being rich in mana, as well as other natural resources.

Metranian Forest was always a peaceful, quiet place, full of wild life. A near-perfect place to live.

But, one day, that all changed...

Strange, purple, portal-type tears began to appear in the forest.
Soon after, monsters, robots and beasts began to roam the forest.

The monsters and beasts began to kill the wildlife and
depleting the natual resources.
The robots cut trees and set fire to the forest.


That's the current back-story, then your greeted with this message:

Skolorie's Magical
Necklace has
disappeared!
Without it, she
has only a limited
amount of mana!
She ventures out,
to search for it.

Graveyard,
Just made these in the past few days, still working on them some, but I think they look presentable.



Mushrooms,
Part of these GFX actually exist in the previous version of the hack that I released, but I've polished them up some since then.
Also, you can't tell from this screenshot, but the mushrooms glow, they're supposed to be luminous.

Feedback welcome, I'd really like some opinions on this project. o:
I like your style, the whole thing is coming out like some kind of retro computer game look, can't say i've seen that before. Keep it up!

Huh, I hadn't noticed that before now, actually. But you're right, it looks retro computer game-ish. Thank you for the feedback : P
I do see a small layer 3 issue though:


Sometimes its not a big deal, if the status bar gets briefly blocked, but if that land mass is huge its gonna block it out completely for a while.

Yeah, I've noticed this issue. But for some reason the layer 3/status bar priority fix patch doesn't work. I think it's a compatibility issue with the HP/MP patch, since it changes the status bar layout. But considering that I don't use time limits, I figured it wasn't a major issue for the time being.
I've never used a patch so I never thought of that xD

I guess it all depends on the situation. If its a section that's not as dangerous then the player won't necessarily have to eyeball his HP the whole time.

I've (Mostly)completed 2 levels recently, I need to finish 1 more to release the next Demo. I'm hoping to do that within the next week, as I'm traveling to Puerto Rico after that. but if I don't finish it by then, it'll be 3+ weeks.

Anyway, as always, feedback is both welcome and appreciated :P
This project seems really promising. The fact that you are drawing all the gfx makes it very unique, if you ask me.

I have two small details that maybe can help you. In the mushrooms background, it seems like you used the same color for the platforms and the background mushrooms. It could help to identify the background if you use a darker color for it, as right now it seems like those mushrooms are on the foreground. Also, I think that red car is asking for some shading, specially with those street lamps near.

Apart from thati, Im really digging it, specially those mummies. You have a very particular drawing style, and it shows. Keep it up!

Anyway, I've put a lot of work into this the last few days to meet a December 22nd deadline. I hope everybody enjoys this version and looks forward to future news/releases.

A small (but important, imo) update.

This update fixes a couple of things:

Wall Jump -
Before, you couldn't turn around after a wall jump unless you first touched the ground. This was never intentional, it was due to the RAM address being used by something else.
Now, you may turn around in mid-air after about 1 second, as originally intended. (Thanks to yoshifanatic for helping me with this!)

OverWorld -
There was a small issue in the Fenmia submap allowing you to walk down from Fenmia Outskirts and get stuck. This has been fixed, as well.

Entrances -
very, very minor, but I changed some of the entrances to face left since that's possible now.



On another note, I planned to post this sooner, but updating to LM 3.0 messed up almost all of my secondary entrances(don't know if this is common for other hacks or not, tbh) so that took awhile to fix. Glad to have it all fixed and playable again (: I look forward to designing levels with LM's new capabilities. I already have part of a level finished, and feel more inspired to design without being limited to Horizontal/Vertical levels.

Firstly, I've changed the title screen slightly:

As you can see here, I've altered it to look more like the MegaMan title screen that it was inspired by.

Next, new enemy graphics:

Lastly, and probably most importantly, I've freed up and entire submap- thanks to LM3.
You see, I had an entire submap dedicated to warps, as I wanted this game to be somewhat open-world. After world 1, world 2, 3, 4, and 5 were all planned to be open to complete in whichever order the player wanted to(This could be seen, but not experienced, in Euphionia V1.2. Due to the fact that worlds 3, 4, and 5 were not in that version at all, but their warps were visible).
Well, since LM now allows me to warp to different submaps via secondary exits, I decided to do this:
