Bramble Climb (level now done!)

Something a bit different to the usual cave levels I've made in the past! #tb{:p}
Only 4 screens done so far. Still a bit to go yet.

Those autumn brambles look really good. 👀

Only thing that'll be weird that I can see is getting hurt by the ends that don't have spikes, but since it's a vanilla contest, I don't know if anything can be done there.

Well, one way to fix the issue of the ends of the "bramble" would be to put a decorative spike atop the area(s) not covered. Though this extra spike would complicate some of the level design a bit and possibly form a bit of cutoff, it would significantly help guide the play in knowing what can and can't hurt the player. Anyways, progress on the level looks pretty good, and the gimmick of using fences is unique and fits the stage well. Good work here!

Thanks guys! #smw{:TUP:}
I figured out a solution to the getting hurt on non-spiky ends:

I'll be honest and say I'm not that huge a fan of how these look. It might be a little unfair because StrikeForcer just killed it with his bramble aesthetic last year... but what matters more than that is that these brambles certainly have a wonky hitbox. So if you're really going with that, make sure to not ever make it too tight, and avoid making the player have to deal with corners constantly.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
Just want to let everyone know my entry is finished and has had some revamping done. Here's the video:

BTW, I didn't know there was a bramble entry last year. I haven't played much of VLDC 10.
If you want my honest opinion I would change the music. That tune has become so overused in bramble levels. I know it's the OG bramble tune but I'm sure there are others that would fit here as well.

In my honest opinion, i completely disagree!
Stickerbush Symphony is and will always be the single best song for Brambles levels! There's no way another song would fit this level as good as it does!

Also, i'd say to be careful with the whole "overused" argument, because it's something that, when you stop to think about it, doesn't really mean anything.
You're basically saying "This song is good, but because it's been used by other people it's not as good". I don't really see any sense in this argument, as you aren't really providing any reason as to why you don't like it other than it being used...
I've been going through VLDCX subforum a few times in the last days, and i saw this argument being used a lot to complain about Tile 1F0 by the simple fact it was being used in levels.

Not to mention calling something "overused" is really arbitrary, as in, what would you consider the point in which something becomes "overused" or not? Is there a limit in amount of uses before something becomes bad or something like that?
Personally, i don't really see Brambles levels too often in SMW hacks. Of course, i have only played a small amount of the hacks in this site, but still, these levels are rare enough to stand out for me even with said "overused song". At the same time, i could easily point out songs i've seen used in pretty much every 'simple plains rompy level' in the first world of many full Normal difficulty hacks out there!
But i don't think it really makes sense to complain about something for the simple fact that it's used.

I know it might seem i'm just making too big of a deal out of this, i don't want to sound rude or anything.
But i've just grown really tired of this whole "overused" argument. I used to play Geometry Dash, and in GD's community, "overused" was pretty much the main argument used for complaining about anything! Whenever people didn't agree with or didn't like anything in a level, they'd just call it "overused", and many others would accept it as a valid argument! No matter what it is, the song choice, the color choices, the gameplay mechanics used, some of the obstacle setups, the level's theme, anything! They could just call it "overused" and it seemed to be a valid argument for criticizing something!
Because of this, i started to think about how this argument makes absolutely no sense! And i just really got tired of seeing anyone using this as an argument for criticizing something!

Ah man, that Maple Treeway theme would actually have been a good fit.
