Best practise on creating chorded samples?

There are plenty of songs I would like to port in the future, but lots of them definitely does not fit with SNES' 8 channels. So, I think creating some chorded samples would keep the song quality.

Currently, the workflow I planned for that is:

1. Create a MIDI file with only chords I want and play it
2. Record it as WAV format
3. Creating samples based on what I am recorded

However, I am not sure if doing that is really the best way. I already tried as an experience, and it seems working. But I would like to hear about what you would do for that situation.
Here's how I do it:

- I get whatever sample I want the chord to use.
- I go to OpenMPT and input a chord for that sample.
- I use the 'Render To Wave' option and save it as uncompressed WAV or put it in one of the sample slots if I'm currently making a song.
- Optimise the heck out of that sample by cutting silence and looping sections that are similar. It doesn't have to be perfect. I recommend using OpenMPT to edit that sample, as you can easily loop it there.
- I use IT2AMK to convert samples from my songs automatically, but you can save result as uncompressed WAV and convert it to BRR using whatever BRR tool is relevant today.

My method is step by step the same as Nikku minus the [last part] IT2AMK. Just wanted to say I also recommend it.
