Grown Grassland by Fullcannon

File Name: Grown Grassland
Submitted: by Fullcannon
Authors: Fullcannon
Type: Original
Purpose: Foreground
Description: Original grassland tileset for grasslands.

This tileset has normal ledges, passable invisible ledges,
grown grass, rocks, bushes and vines to climb.

It fits for one foreground and uses custom palette row 2.

If you use this tileset, you can. Claiming is not allowed.

Major Reason(s)
  • Quality
  • The submission does not quite reach the standards of quality - it's hard to reject something for this reason alone since it's so subjective, but here's a few things you should look at again before resubmitting:
  • Colors
  • You've done a good job with supplying a load of different palettes, but everything suffers because the whole thing is just one palette altogether. It's hard to look everything when it's all the same bright browns and greens. The palettes provided are also pretty monochromatic, and have the same problems.
  • Clashing styles
  • Original Super Mario World bush tiles are included in this, and they don't look quite right next to everything.
  • General Weirdness
  • The walk-through land is just plain strange to see - it's basically a freestanding mound of grass with no earth beneath it. Having only one, nondescript ground decal (I'm guessing it's a buried Bullet Bill) isn't really much to work with if you chose to use this for a level. More variety in that would be welcome.

While you take another crack at this, I'd recommend taking this to the Discord or graphics thread to get some words of wisdom from other artists.
