Switch palace levels - actual levels or not?

So, On pretty much every hack I made I changed the switch palaces to actual levels that need to be beaten before you can press the switch palace button, but I'm thinking on changing that to something new for my new hack, but I just find that putting a "small challenge for lives" from the original game is way too plain.

So I'd like to make a question for you guys, on SMW-hacks which are you preference for switch palace levels, do you like when designers change them into actual levels? also what are some other ideas we could use these levels for?
Check out my profile to see a list of SMW Hacks I made and where to find the latest and best version of them.
Thanks for playing and have fun!

For the most part I'm indifferent honestly though when I run into an actual level at a switch it's kind of surprising not because people dont do it but I'm not expecting it.

I think another take that a lot of people dont do is just hide the switch within an actual level and just give a hint about it somewhere else so the player has to look for it if they want it.
Switch Palaces are the hardest and most extreme levels in my hack. Bosses in and of themselves.

Chapter Two: Land of No Shame
what I expect from a switch palace is something interesting and fun

you can do something easy or hard with that
Very very very shortly, this drab, workaday world and everything in it will be changed forever! Follow us into the golden country, into the empire of the senseless!
Honestly, there is no One Rule Fits All as there are multiple and interesting ways to implement Switch Palaces. For one, there are the one time bonus levels like in SMW (generally for easier hacks but also for hard secret exits if you don't feel sadistic), for the other there are the hard levels (mostly puzzle levels but actual platforming is a thing too (and there still are possible designs you can make: is the actual level inside or outside of the switch palace) and then there are instances where the switch isn't hidden in its own level but actually in an actual level as the secret exit.
Mine are actual levels, but they're a bit shorter levels compared to what would be a standard level.
