Amount of levels per world

I was wondering how many levels per world is recommended as i have a overworld but can't decide how many levels i would have per world i need anybodys personal opinion so i can finally decide
This is my non existent layout I plan on adding one soon.. or never

I have a discord server, feel free to join if you want
Make levels as your motivation sees fit and then decide their location inside the maps. Don't set an exact number of levels.
Of course that's only my personal opinion cause I did that before, but as already mentioned, there's no rule.

Depends on how you set up your worlds typically for easy hacks 5 levels pre world is typical and for Normal 5-8 is typical. however the harder hacks can either have more or less there's no real standard.
Imo something between 5-10 levels is good, though I enjoy playing worlds with less or more levels, so it depends on how you make the hacks.
There's not really a rule, take smw and smb3 worlds for example they dont follow a exact number of levels per world, meanwhile some of the nsmb games are usually more consistent with their worlds size.

I myself usually classify as follow:

Short Worlds: 1- 5 levels
Medium size worlds: 6 -8 levels
Big Worlds: 9+ levels

Also Castles and Switch Palaces included and every level is not necessarily mandatory.

Example: you can have a medium world with 4 mandatory normal levels, a castle level, and then a switch palace and a secret level unlocked by secret exits.

Thanks for playing and have fun!

You're free to choose any amount. Hell, you can even have no worlds and just have one contigous world map (which is what I'm doing). However, make sure the overall amount of levels isn't too high: many players won't keep attention long enough to play 100 levels unless they're all really, really good.
As it was said multiple times before, no rule at all. Short hacks tend to have 5 or so levels per world and longer ones with 90-100 or more exits have roughly 10. Some hacks tend to have their final worlds longer, e.g. Super Mario Bros.: The Early Years, but keep in mind that if you make a long world, you have to have a bunch of save huts or autosave patch installed.
I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.

I personally go with either a minimum of four levels on the main route or seven or eight if I want to have a wide variety of challenges for the world.

I'd go with more or less depending on how many unique ideas I have for the world since I prefer to avoid repeating level concepts in the same world.

I think level size matters as well. A world with ten levels but with them all taking a minute or less to beat each seems reasonable enough, but another world with only three levels that take five or six minutes each can also work.

Just think of whatever mechanics or themes you want in your world(s) and roll with what you can think of.

I think 4 is the magic number for minimum, as the original Super Mario Bros. went by that model, maximum I would suggest 12, but if you put too many levels in a world one might feel impatient to see the next world.
I don't think you should care for magic numbers or the ideal size. It's your game, make it how you want.

Just as long as you can come up with interesting gimmicks and ideas to put in each level to keep it unique it'll be good.

Do whatever as long as, unless you have some sort of auto-saving, give save prompts often enough. That matters more than world size; I can quit playing when I can save, not when a world ends, and it's always great if when I can save matches when I'll possibly get tired of playing your game.
For short and easy sets of levels I think save prompts up to 4 levels apart is acceptable, but when you dive into harder or longer levels, allow the player to save every 3-2 levels or even after every level.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
