Many people are joking Galar region, which many associate it with the United Kingdom.
Also, i made a meme:

Pokemon is ripping off Digimon?

Speaking of this, i heard rumors about that the new Pokemon Sword and Shield will have Armor Evolution.
Is that true?

The one interesting thing to take note of is the fact this is the first main series release we will have on a console in a long time. Yes, it is still portable like the previous ones, but I really do love being able to play Pokemon on the TV via console. Didn't try Let's Go series yet, but this one I might just get straight away.

I really hope, like really really hope there's like a Pokemon Stadium sequel kind of game soon as well. As well as one for XD Gale of Darkness. That'd be so amazing. Even a remake would be neat.

UPDATE

It's been a while since I've updated this thread for months, but recently, the latest issue of CoroCoro Ichiban (a sister magazine of the monthly CoroCoro Comic) has noted that, in its next issue, due for release on June 21st, it will include the "Latest Information for Pokémon Sword & Shield".

We'll find out really soon when the issue hits the shelves...after the E3 event.

That issue is unlikely to actually contain any new information, because E3 actually happens before that, and in recent years, the Pokemon Company has had the habbit of showing new trailers for upcoming Pokemon games just before E3. So yeah, I'm fully expecting a new Sword & Shield trailer a few days before E3, and the next Coro Coro issue will probably just contain a summary of the information in there.

Oy, trainers! The Pokémon Direct just concluded today, and oh boy we have some major stuff for ya! Are you guys ready? Here we go!

Zacian and Zamazenta
Let's meet the two new Legendary Pokémon on the block. Zacian and Zamazenta. Zacian attacks so gracefully that its movements can even captivate its opponents. It holds what appears to be a sword in its mouth...
On the other hand, Zamazenta's regal and majestic movements overwhelm any opponents that dare face it. Its body is covered in what seems to be a shield...

Aaand let's talk about Dynamax. Dynamax is a phenomenon unique to specific locations in Galar, where Pokémon are able to take on gigantic appearances. Pokémon from Galar are capable of Dynamaxing, and Dynamax Pokémon become tremendously strong!

The Dynamax phenomenon is an integral part of Pokémon battles in the Galar region. Dynamax Pokémon don't just become bigger—they get a boost in power as well.

They return to normal after three turns. Think carefully on when to trigger the Dynamax phenomenon!

And remember, kids:
  • You can only Dynamax your Pokémon in specific locations of the Galar region, like the Pokémon Gym's stadiums.
  • You can only Dynamax your Pokémon once per battle!

Naturally, the Dynamax phenomenon is the topic of much research in the Galar region. A special item known as the Dynamax Band is the product of these findings. Only Trainers who possess a Dynamax Band are able to Dynamax their Pokémon.

A Dynamax Pokémon's moves will turn into special Max Moves. Max Moves pack a punch, and some of them can even trigger powerful additional effects! The Max Moves your Pokémon can use are determined by the kinds and types of moves they knew before Dynamaxing.

Worried about battling Dynamax Pokémon? Enter Max Raid Battles. Team up with three other Trainers and take on a wild Dynamax Pokémon. Defeat it, and you'll have a chance to catch it. However, the wild Dynamax Pokémon will remain in their giant form for the entire battle.

Max Raid Battle Tips:
  • The wild Dynamax Pokémon you'll face in Max Raid Battles vary based on where you are in the Wild Area or the weather.
  • The weather in the Wild Area changes every day, so you may meet a variety of Pokémon each time you visit.

More new Pokémon coming right ahead! Say hello to these newbies: Gossifleur, Eldegoss, Wooloo, Corviknight and Dreadmaw.

If you're missing out the Direct, you can check out this Twitter thread here. In the meantime, you can check out the stream here:

And you can also check out the Dynamax Pokémon trailer as well!:

With all being said, have fun, mates!

So how are others doing with the games so far?

I will admit while I dislike several decisions, I expected yet another Pokemon game and wasn't disappointed keeping that in mind. I knew it'd be nothing ground breaking but it has been entertaining to play and finally able to have an option to play on a TV.

And how does others feel about the direct? My hope is that perhaps they'll at least do more DLC and add more of the Pokemon that were cut back in. Seems it might happen, but probably not completely.

Personally, I love Sword. There are, of course, a couple of disappointments for me (mostly the fact that there is almost no post-game content and not even a single legendary to catch in the game that isn't story-related). Content-wise, I'd say these versions are the most lacking we've ever gotten, but gameplay-wise, I think they're actually the best (and least annoying) ones. A lot of quality-of-life improvements. After the initial shock of how barebones the post-game is, I've still sunk quite some time into the game, currently trying to build an all-shiny, somewhat competitive team (currently at 3 out of 6).

As for the DLCs, they look really, really exciting to me. They seem to provide the post-game content that I had wished to have from the start. There are, of course, points to be made that it is a somewhat shady business practice to sell you the content that you would expect to already be in the base game (I mean, come on! Really not a SINGLE hidden legendary in the base game?). On the other hand, we're getting a substantial amount of extra content for 30€, when in the past, their business model would have been to sell us another 60€ game with just minimal changes.

I guess you could say that objectively, my feelings on the DLCs are "mixed", but subjectively, because I'm still a Pokemon fan-boy and very easy to get hooked, I'm actually looking forward to them.

Certainly a fair way to look at it.

On one hand, it'd be nice if all pokemon in the national dex was already included. On the other, we're looking at them adding to the current game instead of selling a 2.0 one later on.

There's certainly a variety of good and bad, but ultimately I think it pulls into a more positive direction ultimately because there's some really nice quality of life things that make it way easier.

There are some admittedly interesting bugs though. Like clipping through a berry tree and then forwarding time to clip backwards into terrian and then go no clipping over a map. lol

Heck, there's even a bug where you can teach an egg moves and make that egg evolve as another pokemon does so. And the 1.1 patch didn't even fix these. : P

Not to mention a bunch of exploits that allow you to force Pokemon in max raids to be shiny. It's still a very time-consuming one (so shinies still aren't exactly free), but it's way more promising than trying to get a max raid shiny legitimately. I've admittedly used the exploit twice myself, because getting a shiny legitimately with max raids is next to impossible (they allegdly forgot to program the shiny charm odds into max raids, so you always have the 1 in 4000 odds), and there were two Gigantamax Pokemon I really, really wanted shiny. Gigantamax forms can't be bred, so max raids are the only method of getting them shiny. I don't have problems with breeding a couple hundred eggs just to try and get a shiny (have done it a bunch of times already), but that's just not possible here, so I don't even feel bad about using the exploit.

Still surprised they didn't even fix it with the patch. I'm sure they knew about it, but they just don't seem to care about fixes right now (or their development schedule is so tight that they just can't bother with them as long as it doesn't severly break the game).

I'm too old for Pokémon but Urshifu is still my new boyfriend

I think the DLC is too expensive especially if you want it for both games, but since I can still get the new old pokemon for free without having to buy it, I'm glad they're doing it.

Here's hoping for any of the following: Blaziken, Lopunny, Mismagius, Ambipom, Lilligant.

Definitely would love to get my Blaziken back. I missed some of the ones from gen 3 a lot!

I personally enjoyed Sword/Shield much, much more than Sun/Moon or even Ultra Sun/Moon. It still had its problems, but the game mainly just felt much more fun this time around.

I'm happy about them going the DLC route as well instead of the usual third version game or sequel games, and definitely looking forward to that later this year.
