We've got a few more songs revamped!

Lament for the Wilted (aka Florist Ghost House, the theme of Floral Fears) - revamped by me

Cult of Calamity (theme of Digsite Dangers) - by Ruberjig

Going Off the Rails (theme of Coaster Commotion) - by crm0622

There's been some heavy (but just) criticism towards this track and I was honestly hoping someone would replace it entirely, but this has made me think otherwise, you've really improved it! It has so much more character to it than before and I'm digging the added harmonization on the melody a lot. If anything, I was hoping for a little more out of the end; the strings on that last chord really feel like they're looking to go a bit further and it felt a little sudden for it to loop back to the beginning.

Frankly I don't mind how much my tracks are pulled from their original form whatsoever; I no longer have any intention to work on this project, so feel free to go absolutely crazy with them!
Thanks a bunch, Red Chameleon! I did think the final section could use an extension before calling the port finished as is, but I kept it because that's how the original worked. But after hearing it from you, I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks again! I'm very glad you liked the revamp!

And here we go again, people. Another update! Ultima has revamped Moose's boss theme, Be the Hero. Here's the SPC in all its glory.

Well, since nobody is really talkin', guess I'll step in. I won't go light though, I'll be stating my opinion as such.

The original "Be the Hero" track I found to contain probably my favourite uses of the @17 instrument and I found it be just as big of a classic as I found Epic Battle to be back from SMWCP. So when I found out that it's not a general favourite from others, I found myself confused I guess is a way to put it.

The new one does use some nice new samples, but personally I'm not a fan of the new percussion. The old one, while basic, had a nice flow to it. The new one feels like it's different for the sake of being different, being that it has a weird delay between snares that I'm not the biggest fan of. Maybe if it's introduced with that delay then goes to the original percussion then it'll sound like great buildup. Another small issue is the guitar doesn't seem to blend that well with the SMW @4. Perhaps you could either make @4 not as awkward, or have a more fitting guitar. I will give the remix this, I like the orchestra hits mixed in. I think Ultima did his best with this tho, given the issues brought up (barring the "plagerism" that I don't hear from either).

That's my take. I do like the new versions of a lot of the themes (Somber Stalagmites especially, even tho it sounds more like a jungle than a cave imo). I'm still not a fan of Industrial Revolution's revision (since it took away a lot of the ambience of the S.N.N. original), but if it has to be this way then I can at least say the ending improves on the original.

Honestly, about the percussion, while I'll agree the original's percussion was nice enough, I felt that it wasn't really too exciting and/or intense to fit a boss battle enough. However, that's really more on the way I percieve on how intensity and energy sound like compared to most others; for example, a 4-on-the-floor type of beat with a fairly simplistic kick-snare pattern could sound just as good, but I, myself, find more syncopated and varied types of beats to feel much better and more surprising to the listener, which I find is much more effective in bringing up intensity. Again tho, that's just me. :P

The guitar was mainly selected to fit with the original SMW guitar in terms of sound, and not specifically on if it blends well enough with the rest of the song, so that's probably why it doesn't sound as fitting to you; I might try and change the guitar at some point tho and see what fits better and what doesn't, but I'm not sure if that alone is a good enough reason to change much, since it seems like most of the feedback is more on the subjective side of things, which makes things harder to change when people will most likely not be happy with the decision either way. :V

i think the main reason why the syncopation doesn't quite work is because there's a lot of dead air before the snare. if the goal is to keep up the intensity you can't leave the snare and bass drum doing nothing for so long, otherwise it pulls the groove down. i'd recommend either reworking the drums near the beginning or just filling that dead air with some bass drum hits, 'cause as it is now it does sound pretty stilted.

that's the only thing that i'd consider significant enough to be a priority change, it's a good arrangement otherwise

Yeah, actually, I was thinking the same thing too; no one really seemed to say anything about it tho so I didn't really think it was going to be a problem, but yeeeeeeeeah, it does sound pretty awkward having the drums delay like that, I agree :V

I won't work on fixing that just yet (since I'm busy with a few other stuff, not to mention that I'm still recovering from a slump atm), but it shouldn't take too long before I fix it :P

I really like how it sounds, but i think a overdrive guitar would fit better for the channels that plays @4, but over all sounds really good, just like the idea i had turn the boss theme into a rock/metal like song.
It's DMB here, in case you ask

but i really like how it sounds, i'd change the percussion in a few parts, but it really sounds nice tho, keep up the good job everyone, i'm looking forward to see it done before my hiatus is finished

Honestly, I mainly kept the @4 intact so the song would still have traces of the original inside them, as to not sound too weird or unfitting for the people which still remembers the old song. Since SMWCP2 is a very old project, I thought this would be a good enough way to make it sound modern without stripping away the feeling of how the song once was, if that makes any sense. (dunno if I succeeded or not, but you know)

Oh yeah, also uh, I thougt there would be a updated post by now so it's why I didn't post it yet, but here it is again; mainly just fixed the drums for this one, as per Daizo (and Merc)'s request, and not much else :P

I know what you mean, I've been checking on SMWCP2 since it's beginning almost.
I've seen this ol' boy changing a lot through the time, but anyway
that was only a suggestion tho but after checking on it again I think makes sense to want keep the original feeling in it

I've been thinking in possible instruments that would feel stronger in the song than @4 but keep the feeling of it, like using a stronger trumpet, from another game, like yoshi's island for example, but i don't know if it would fit well with the song, even tho, i think it would be worthy to test.

I really like how the new percussion sounds like now, keep up with the good job #smw{:TUP:}
I need to hear some of the revamped songs.

so much for that hahahahahaha

Spent the last several days putting this together for the dreamer's theme, I named it Endless Slumber. The Zelda influence was completely unintentional, btw.
