The Fragmented Realm (It's not dead!)

Standard

The Fragmented Realm
So here it is, some of you have been waiting for it, some of you might not have been waiting for it.

I'm reviving The Fragmented Realm with a brand new thread, and adding a lot more spice to the hack!

The Fragmented Realm is a story-driven hack looking to be a unique and one-of-a-kind collect-a-thon. Mario must collect three fragment pieces per level in order to step in the fragmented realm and beat the evil entity behind the spreading corruption.

Screenshots!
What has changed since 2018's second demo release?

Amount of fragments per level was changed from 5 to 3.
The status bar looks cleaner and has less clutter.
The graphics were enhanced along with its palettes.
The fragments had a proper redesign.
Message boxes were replaced with the VWF Dialogue patch.
All sprites were re-inserted with PIXI instead of Romi's Spritetool.
Level duration was cut down a lot. They're more bearable to go through now.
Redesigned the title screen, although it is not final yet.
Replaced Yoshi's House with Mario's House, which will feature a special challenge level underground.
Applied the 32x32 Player Tilemap patch for more detailed poses and frames.
Implemented special animations giving Mario 6 running frames and 3 walking frames.

Screenshots!
Let's not keep you waiting any longer.

Feedback!
Please tell me what you think of the hack so far! All feedback is welcome and could help me improve! :]
Really liking all the new touches you've added to your hack, especially after casually following this hack's creation process since the beginning. I can't wait to see more from you!
This look really good Dan plus i like the Doritos you get to collect, reminds me of LttP randomizer.

The variation on the land for the BG bits and the passthroughable bits is a nice touch too it feels much more organic compared to just flat lines.

I'm not sure if it's just me though but compared to the feel of the levels the OW feels a little flat, I'm not sure if it's just the lack of colors or the fact that it is literally flat kind of in a crater, it just doesn't have the same feeling as the levels have.

The overworld is one of the things I would like to improve on in the near future without changing too much. The entire overworld is pretty much already done and fully functional with events and whatnot. I'll consider spicing up the palettes to fit the level themes more and add a few decorative tiles to finalize the look and feel of the map.

Cool Dan.
Thank you and have a nice day

Some new progress to show.

Currently working on the first castle/fortress level. A lot of visual upgrades have been implemented including slopes!

I'm not really liking the purple for the castle tiles because it looks kinda clashy but I can't think of a color to replace it with so lol. Otherwise this looks really nice!

I believe the problem is the HDMA. Red/yellow is a warm color and the foreground is like, layers of gray. Nothing against the purple thing. I have two suggestions:
- Change the HDMA to blue/purple (cold), if possible.
- Don't make the foreground very gray, try warm or cool the tone for better immersion.

Despite these details the project is getting really interesting, good luck with that!
Exclusive content and nostalgia!
Man I like the purple nurples on top. Kinda reminds me of a obsidian or charcoaly effect. Like cooled lava init.

Peeps already says it clashes. So Imma tell you somin you dont know. I really like the crusty crinkle outlines on the dirt tiles of that castle tileset. Its fuckin rad.
