Haru's SPC Showoff Thread

nimbus cliffs

may or may not be for a project what's a ?dl=1? :^)
@Izuna The Nimbus Cliffs theme sounds pretty good! #smw{:TUP:}
Remember, Use the ?dl=1 after .spc

Izuna, Good Job!

damn good shit lol; I don't really like the tone change in between the intro and the part afterwards (sounds a tad too jarring IMO; some Treasure Hunter G songs did that, and I don't think I really enjoyed the tone change in the offending songs from it's soundtrack the same way as it happens here), but other than that, it's all around solid #smw{:TUP:}

EDIT: I also really like how you managed to blend in the bass and kick like that; I might steal that technique for my future ports lmao

I seem to have forgotten how to be alive

oh wait, no, there it is again

Mega Man 7 - Slash Man
Sonic Heroes - Mystic Mansion
Oh fuck, that Sonic Heroes port sounds fucking amazing, god damn; I imagine you sampled the actual song to get in some of the sounds from the original right? Beginning sounds pretty much exact, tho I dunno what you did for the drum loop to get it sounding as accurately as it does here

Just what i'd expect from you, damn nice job (and welcome back :V)

found the original loops for the arpeggio and bass, matched whatever sounds I could to the KORG TRITON, and pulled whatever didn't match from any source I could (drums are just a manually constructed loop, made to sound as close as I could manage in lieu of not having the original source(s), guitars are from the EastWest Steve Stevens guitar sample CD, etc.)
Glad to see you back in this site Harumi!

Awesome music composer :)
is that an original?

yes, yes it is, get it here for your using pleasures.
The Hybrid Front - Combat Scenario (SNES ARRANGE)

I might be working on a project I'm genuinely excited about
Oh fuck, loving the massive and full sound all of these have so far; honestly, the mere fact you're porting the entire Hybrid Front OST is fucking great in of itself, but to hear them in such amazing quality is just... so good haha

Looking forward to see more lmao (and maybe actually see this being completed at some point, but I know how long that would take :V)

Dude, this port is fantastic. I love the soundtrack for The Hybrid Front, so I'm glad to see you making such quality ports from the game. Please do more!
god I love that fucking high lead synth (at 0:11) so much lmao; really wanted to know how did you even get it to sound so high-quality, tho with how downsampled it is I think I can probably guess why anyway

the intro is a really nice touch as well, amazing job!!!

it only sounds so high quality at that frequency register; the moment you pitch it down (i.e. the intro, or the entirety of Combat Scenario I made back in March) it just breaks into this very lo-fi, smooth synth

Yeah, I can see that, especially in Combat Scenario lol; probably why that one is still one of my favorite ones so far haha

But yeah, I am still curious on if you just, like, sampled that synth lead at a fairly big length and just downsampled it to hell and back to get that sound; it does seem like it has a much bigger size than it actually seems, along with a lot of the artifacts from the original sample still being present (or so it seems), so I don't doubt that's what was done, but I still wanted to see if I am correct on my assumption anyhow :P

that's essentially what I did, just sampled it for a bar, found a clean enough loop that has the basic gist of the sample embedded in it and downsampled it to hell and back to get it to fit, created a nice sound!
