New Pokemon Snap

Nintendo 64 memories intensifies:

New Pokemon Snap was announced.
What do you think? What would you expect in this game?
I'm so glad my favorite non-Mystery Dungeon Pokemon spin-off is finally getting a sequel. I replayed this game more than anything else on N64. Not much comes close to this level of comfy.

Judging from the trailer, it's still on rails, which I am okay with. I like that they're previewing some new biomes (the forest and savannah) and a lot of generations of Pokemon. Pidgeot picking the Magikarp out of the water was pretty cool but I wonder if you hit Pidgeot with a Pester Ball, how awesome would it be if Pidgeot dropped Magikarp, it evolved into Gyarados, and got its revenge on the bird for trying to eat it. The Pikachu eating an apple on the beach seems straight out of the first Snap, minus the surfboard.

I'm hoping for a larger number of courses and more tricky interactions between Pokemon and the player to get cool things to happen, if not another toy or two for the player to lure and disturb Pokemon with, and some course props you could take advantage of to get good shots (e.g. the Moltres egg in your way helping you get awesome Charmander group shots or knocking out Meowth on the tracks to make seeing Scyther easier.) I want Togetic or Togekiss to make an appearance.

The original Pokemon Snap also had a kiosk at some Blockbuster Video locations (my age is showing) when it launched and you could actually print the photos out there in the form of little stickers. What would be a neat feature in the current decade is if the game had an event interface where you could submit photos of a certain criteria as part of community contests (e.g. a funny photo, a dramatic photo, etc.) Sharing photos directly with friends, doing group scrapbooking, and periodic score contests against friends or globally might be worth a consideration too.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!

Not much, tbh. I know this is a very unpopular opinion, but Pokémon Snap is one of those games I beat once as a kid, then never felt like going back to it again. Being forced on a linear track doing nothing but small interactions with the environment is not really my type of game. If they did something like an open-world game where you can walk around, taking pictures of Pokémon, looking for rare Pokémon in hidden places and overcoming challenges so you can get a good shot at a legendary Pokémon, then I would be in.

That said, I really need to praise the game's visuals, this look far better than Sword and Shield.
I've never played Pokémon Snap, though I'm definitely gonna give this a spin when it's released. Whether I'll enjoy it or not, I'm not sure. But I'll be going into it not knowing what to expect (other than take lolpics of pokemans), so that's a plus.

We shall see!
As one of the folks who never got the luxury of playing the original Pokémon Snap, I must say that I'm looking quite forward to this literal new addition to the spin-off. Even in its current state, it seems like it really gets you immersed in the Pokémon world as you go about taking photos of the various pocket monsters in their natural habitats.

I suppose another reason for my interest in New Pokémon Snap is that I do enjoy taking photos in real life, so the amateur photographer in me is really calling out for this game. Aside from that, I find it interesting how Bandai Namco is on board for its development. Would the game have been or looked any different without their involvement?
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?

Tip:
I really want a version that isn't so line guided/linear, but alas.

I really do have fond memories of this game and do look forward to what they do with it since there's so many Pokemon to work with.

I can't even be pessimistic about this game like I am with most other pokemon games that have come out recently. It's not being developed by gamefreak, but instead bandai namco. I actually have alot of hope, it already looks eons better visually than sword and shield

The only way that I am tempering my expectations for this game is in its length, I don't expect it to be a very long game, but hopefully it will be short and sweet.
