Super Famicompo 2 [RESULTS]

MusicResults

As it turns out, I unfortunately missed one entry; it has now been added to the pack as Cover46 and the voting form has been updated accordingly. If you've already downloaded the pack, you can get the missing entry by itself here.
soundcloud / bandcamp / twitter / buy/stream my EP / buy my touhou music / buy my NEW album!!!
Can participants vote? I assume we don't vote our own entry, but that would give it away right?
You can (and should!): since the votes won't be shared until the results there's no risk of giving away yours. You can also leave a comment on your own entry if you want.

This is correct.

Thanks to everyone who participated and voted, and big congratulations to the top 3 in each category! This contest was a big success and I hope the next one can be even greater!

-------------Maxodex and Pinci------------
, someone should be in contact shortly about your game prizes; for everyone else that earned trophies, those should be distributed soon as well. See you all next time!
yall are amazing! well done ✨
wow, I aimed for top 10 but I never imagined I'd get 1st!
thanks alot to everyone who liked the song and gave me feedback, I really appreciate it
Congratulations to Maxodex and Pinci for 1st place :D.

Tbh should exist a rule of 1 port per person, because the contest have a lot of entries and is hard for voters, vote correctly. Also some users abuse a lot of that rule and submited a lot of ports.

holy FUCK WHAT THE HELL

i SERIOUSLY didn't expect to land top 3, let alone first place. samples sound like ass because the song is really long and i was constantly running out of ARAM and i was also running out of time to fine tune the mixing and random screwups and pops that kept appearing out of nowhere whenever i added something new. cover17 and 18 were my top candidates to beat the shit out of my entry. (really incredible job btw musicalman and torchkas)

i uh

thank you so much guys.

(also follow petet guys he's seriously talented.)

to hear birds and see none.
Huge congrats to the winners! And qantuum deserves an honorable mention for submitting so many entries too, hehe.

I really wanted to participate and vote in this, but unfortunately my time has been almost non-existent lately. #ab{>_<}

Great work, everyone!
Welp, I kind of wished my Pulseman trance remix had a bit more love with how much damn effort I put into it, but tbf, I can see why people didn't like it as much I guess, since I also wasn't satisfied with how weak it sounded (mainly on the low end)... ehh, it's good enough for a first time I suppose, but I'll definitely need to find a way to make things harder sounding on the low end if I ever do intend to make another SNES trance track lmao

Other than that, holy fuck I'm surprised that both the other ports I did ranked that high (especially the International Superstar Soccer one, was certain someone was going to complain about the brass sample or something); I'm really surprised haha, especially since I actually made these intending them to be more like backups/throwaways and didn't expect them to do better than the actual thing I worked on more, but tbf, it was probably a good enough idea to do that since at least if that one wasn't ranked as well, the other ones could have a chance, and I'm happy it ended up being the case here :P

(also btw, LOVED a lot of the higher ranking submissions here, especially Starry Beach and Ascension Drive; the AI Bomb cover was also damn cool to hear too haha) please Torchkas I'm begging you please release it it's such a good port

That Pulseman port was one of the most memorable ones for me, definitely interesting to listen to.
Check out my WIP romhack!
Thanks a lot Tamaki.
I see the comments and I will try to make the expected improvements before submitting the tracks to the music section... Well, save for that Sevish song. Indeed it was so hard to make correctly, a lot of stuff that's going on would desync compared to the original.

Some comments did hurt because they are from people more talented and experimented than me and they ask me to get proficient at planning things I am not always aware of (i.e quality of samples, staccato, song having to be memorable, mixing and such), but I guess it is my learning curve catching on. I really always complain of critic but then I cannot debate that the results of applied changes after those critics, end up much better, so I'll say thank you for the comments and they'll hopefully help me submit improved versions. That's conditioned to me being actually able to get around technique, since at times I am just that clueless.

Congratulation to the top 3 of each category, I gave almost all of these songs a 100/100, and honestly I woud have gone beyond. Superb work.

I wanted to comment a bit more about my ranking vs. the final ranking, and highlight the works I really loved, I guess that will just be my comments for now, because now is the hour I'm going to job, I'll be back in 9-10 hours. Sad that I am probably missing out the hype and discussion. Cheers,

PS: orig19 and orig24 were more joke entries since I kinda don't know how to compose ahah. Sorry to all the voters I have traumatized.
Congrats to anyone in the top 10. There were a ton of great entries! #smrpg{y}

Also big thank you to sinc-x for running this contest! Compared to last year this finally got the attention it deserved. Even if this means you had siginificantly more to do as well.

As for me I didn't expect to place anywhere near top, but I'm glad I'm still (almost) in the upper half. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! #smrpg{<3}

Interestingly Wakana and me had very similar places and also often got guessed for our (or the other's ports), which means I'm on a good way to reach Wakana's porting level hopefully one day. #tb{:DD}

The overall level in this contest was so high, there were plenty of great tunes, my favourite being that stunning Ace Combat port. Using different samples for the same instrument is genious, and it's cute how I had the same idea in my Holy Order port (which can't compete with the former at all, but still, lol).

Good job everyone nonetheless! I hope I wasn't too harsh with my judging, I tried to always keep above 60.

The contest was also very nice, despite the waiting time, but I'm not blaming sinc at all. Thank you for hosting this, and I look forward other future famicompos! #smrpg{haha}
big congrats to da winners. you deserve it all!

really glad i got a medal, but it would have been funnier if i'd gotten 2nd place, because that's what aibomb ranked as too

aibomb was probably one of the most complex ports i've finished, with a text file of 26KB. i abused to hell and back the remote command function, you'll see what it looks like soon enough.
Congratulations to everyone who participed. The cover category was such a blast to listen. So many good songs. I wish I knew who made Decisive Battle with Saruin, because I wanted to congratulate them for the amazing job they did with the song. Definetely my favorite of the bunch. And it was easy to guess most of qantuum songs, mainly because he loves Illusion of Gaia / Soul Blazer.

I hope I wasn't harsh in any feedback I gave. I'm not that great in giving musical feedback, mainly because I lack some expertise and technical knowledge, so I did my best to explain what I liked and what I didn't. I liked most of the ports. Although, I'm not very good at analyzing original songs so much.
