Mario: That would be SMB3, which I played on the Wii's NES Virtual Console after my brother spent my dad's money on it without asking. My dad was pretty annoyed about that for a while, which was hilarious, but I was happy about it. It was also one of the first games I'd ever played, so I was stuck on the first level for ages.

Sonic: Well, I still haven't really played any Sonic games anyway other than the original Genesis games. In particular, I first played the original on the 3DS's Virtual Console, which actually came with a few unique modifications (like including Sonic's spin-dash, even though that move wasn't introduced until the later games).

Mario:

Mario is Missing! for the NES and Super Mario Bros. for the NES

Played both on the same day as a kid, and I liked Mario is Missing! more (I have no idea why).
I really liked the music in Mario is Missing! as a kid, and in a classic kids fashion I didn't read anything and just mashed buttons until it worked. It's not a big surprise that I didn't finish the first room/town of the game until recently when I was able to find a copy.

As for Super Mario Bros. I played that game a bunch but I didn't like it due to how difficult it was, as well as having stiff controls just added to the anger. Probably disliked it because I could die and lose progress in it, which isn't present in Mario is Missing!.

Sonic:

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the Genesis

Played it at a friends house when I was a bit older, it's a fun game.
Not my type of game, but it's a fun game.

I distinctly remember how my friend was always surprised at how good I was at it, even though I just hold right and win.

The first act boss was a bit tricky the first time, but it wasn't anything major to talk about.

Overall, as I said before, fun game.

Lots of love, S1Z2 #w{<3}
Honestly, I don't really remember what either of my first games were. Although, if I had to take a guess I believe my first Mario game was Super Mario Sunshine. I know for a fact that my first 2D Mario game was Super Mario World.

In terms of Sonic, I'm almost 90% sure that my first Sonic game was Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

I still return to SMS & StH2 occasionally, although I return to SMW a lot more... which should make sense, considering what website we're all on currently.

Greetings. My name is Blake Izayoi. I love Sakuya very much.
I enjoy Super Mario World, Touhou, and Vocaloid.
Have a good day.
I think my first Mario game was either Super Mario 64 or the first New Super Mario Bros.

As for Sonic, I haven't actually played any of that series but I do have the original. So if I were to play any Sonic game first, it would probably be the original.
My first Mario game would be Super Mario Bros. for the original NES (I also had Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3 as well).

My first Sonic game would be Sonic Colors for the Wii if I can remember right; I also played Sonic Unleashed (for the Wii) as well at the time too, but I'm pretty sure that I played Sonic Colors first.
I don't know exactly, but I remember Sonic and the Black Knight and New Super Mario Bros. as my "first" of those series.
I think I remember that the first game I played was NSMBW, and about Sonic... Sonic Unleashed oh something like that was called
