ROUGH OUTLINE for Overworld Tutorial 202X Extravaganza

WIP

Howdy, everyone. As the *NEW* Tutorials Progress thread states, I am currently working on a tutorial for Lunar Magic's overworld editor. I've considered doing this a few times before, but what stopped me then is not being sure how to even structure the guide in a way that makes logical sense. So far, I have written a very work-in-progress outline that I'm currently planning on building off of, and I would like to hear some feedback on whether the order of things makes sense. If it looks like I'm missing something vital content-wise, feel free to mention that also.

As of right now, I'm currently half-way through the Layer 2 section of the tutorial. I assure you that I've been working on this consistently, there's just a lot to cover here. Only reason I'm a little slow right now in particular is that I'm trying to explain concepts like "terrain variety" and "perspective", which are more about teaching the actual process rather than just objectively explaining how an editor works. Currently sitting at around 5,000 words, but I plan on trimming that down a lot once I've finished the first draft.

I anticipate Layer 1 being a lot easier to explain once I get to it, and that's definitely going to be the bulk of the tutorial by the look of things. Plan on me putting a lot of care into explaining events and other concepts that beginners get tripped up on.

Link to the document is in the original post! Feel free to either comment on there, or post in here if that's what you would prefer.
I very much anticipate this eventual release. There's still a lot left for me to learn about doing overworlds, and it's kind of maybe one of my favorite aspects of this entire hobby.

Chapter Two: Land of No Shame
STATUS UPDATE: 8/8/2021

So it's been a minute. Unfortunately, I haven't made a lot of progress since the last update due to real life, but starting yesterday I'm slowly getting the train rolling again. I made some adjustments to an earlier chunk of the Layer 2 section to list the used tile numbers, and next on the list is finishing the part about cutoff (and how to fix it). This will mostly involve expanding the "fixing" part and providing a couple more screenshots.

While reading through what I've gotten done so far, I got the idea to maybe talk more about the layer 2 path tiles and how they're constructed. This would require more screenshots and diagrams to explain, but not as much writing I think. Not sure how necessary this would be though, since people can mostly just re-use existing paths, anyway. I guess we'll see.

Currently sitting at around 6,600 words, and considering we're still not even done with Layer 2 in this tutorial—sheesh. This is gonna be a long one. Lots to go.
