Trouble getting distance with Emulators

Hello I hope you can help me figure out what is going on. I also hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I just got into rom hacks recently. I love watching people play them on twitch and have always loved Super Mario World. I have a super nt in the mail thats shipping to me and also an everdrive cart.

For now I have been playing "moo world" (a beginner hack) on an emulator (snes9x) on my computer.

I feel like its not working properly. The p speed and jumps are off. Theres a certain jump that requires a spin jump off a slope and I just can't get the distance.. I have tried many many times.

You can see from this video here https://youtu.be/H173uYNffYg?t=460 its the spin jump at the 7:40 mark on the downward slope.. i just can't get that distance. I'm a pretty experienced mario player and im sure its the emulators fault but i'm open to suggestions.

I know this streamer is playing on a super nt.. Will my problem go away once I play this hack on the super nt? Any settings I can try to change on the snes9x? anyone know whats happening? any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

also forgot to mention I have tried this on BSNES and an emulator on my wii U. They all feel kinda different with the jump lengths. My jump was the furthest on the wii u emulator.
Bump :)
I'm no moderator, but this thread seems to be a better fit for the Gaming forum, considering this has to do with general emulation rather than Non-Super Mario World hacking.

I don't have any experience with the Super NT, but on the PC, have you tested the inputs on the controller that you're using? To me, it seems like whatever button you have mapped to the Y button isn't working properly.
