1. Michiko Naruke - Town Where the West Wind Blows (pretty cool RPG town theme, especially like when the backing strings part with the cool, emotional chords come in alongside the hilarious-but-neat-enough-for-the-song SM64 sounding pan flute lead, all around nice track in general lol)
2. 猫叉Master - Byakuya Gentou Long Version (honestly, I'll admit this might be sorta repetitive, but I have a soft spot for traditional Japanese sounding shit like this, and this is definitely my jam; really want to make something like this one day, dunno why but there's just something about traditional Japanese music that has a extremely neat sound to it that I really want to replicate myself, and y'know, try to infuse it with my own style just for the heck of it haha)
3. Kendrick Lamar - untitled 02 (ngl, as a guy who doesn't listen to rap often but tends to enjoy it more often than not, this was pretty neat, and I definitely enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting lol; the backing track here seems nice as well, wonder where it's from 👀)
4. Morusque/Nurykabe - Se visite aussi en véhicule (this one was also nice, although unlike the other repetitive track, this one started fairly interesting but didn't do all that much with it to justify voting for it, so uh. yeah.)
5. the booyah! kids - idwtgtbt (nice as well, sounds sorta like a mix of breakbeat and alt. rock (?) which is an interesting combination for sure lmao; but yeah, other than that it didn't do all that much for me sadly)
6. Neko Case - Deep Red Bells (same as above, except for the whole "fusion of genres that I don't even know if they were intentional to begin with" thing being absent here I guess)
7. Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok (honestly, the beginning kinda reminded me of a JoJo track for some reason lmao; otherwise...? ehh, it's fine I guess)
8. Shoh Murakami - An Exciting New Day (honestly, this definitely sounds the most generic of the bunch IMO; I guess I like that it sounds like a mix of NES chiptune and more modern instrumentation, but the music itself sounds boring as all hell... definitely not for me IMO)
This set was one of those where pretty much every song fell under "it's okay", and my order was basically just determined by how "okay" I thought every song was compared to the others. The set kinda fell off towards the end, but overall I think this was a solid one to end on.
1. Michiko Naruke - Town Where the West Wind Blows: I like this one. Has a nice bassline. I do think it's a bit short, though.
2. Shoh Murakami - An Exciting New Day: This song's nice. Not much else to add
---------------
3. the booyah! kids - idwtgtbt: I dunno, man...I usually find this kind of music annoying, but I actually liked this. I almost think it'd be better as an instrumental, though.
4. Kendrick Lamar - untitled 02: Ehhhhh...I didn't really care for this until around the last third of the song.
5. Neko Case - Deep Red Bells: Took this long for a country song to show up, huh? Even then, this song seems to lean a bit more into folk than country. I'm personally...okay with country music, as long as it's not the nationalist garbage that a lot of modern country artists (especially male ones) like to make nowadays. As for this song, it's not bad. That said, it's not really something I'd go out of my way to listen to.
6. 猫叉Master - Byakuya Gentou Long Version: I was liking this at first, but it just drags way too much around the second half.
7. Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok: This is another one of those songs that I can already tell is going to get stuck in my head for weeks, even though I didn't like it all that much. I do really like the music video, though.
8. Morusque/Nurykabe - Se visite aussi en véhicule: This was kinda boring, at least to listen to by itself. It reminded me of the ambient music you'd hear in something like Minecraft or Terraria.
