I never knew about those kinds of products being put out by Viacom. I'd understand if these were marketed towards adults - with the exception of that Dora one because that's just friggin' creepy in all respects regardless of demographic, however, since they are marketed primarily towards children, there's definitely something mentally wrong with these people.
...though I will admit I laughed really hard at the Spongebob candies. It would be really awkward eating from that, and I would never buy it, not for myself or someone else.
He's also got a valid point about toy design. I have a ton of stuffed animals and some Pokemon toys out here in the open, and from what I see, not one of them are blatantly sexual, except maybe the electronic talking Pikachu with the opening for the batteries somewhere between its feet and tail... but where else do you put the battery compartment without it being so conspicuous? (The talking Looney Tunes have it in the back but their backs are very plain and it would stand out on Pikachu -and- his tail is attached to the back.) I can't really deem the Pikachu one intentional innuendo or necessarily avoidable without it seeming ugly.
Now, making a candy or a container similar to a snowglobe gives you a whole lot more physical creative options than having a talking character with batteries IMO, and there is so much more they can do without being forced to use a racy design.
Even if the design can be humorous, I don't believe you would honestly expect nobody else is going to notice the sexual nature of it. I think most informed people probably subconsciously make that distinction (hey that looks like a cock) whether they want to or not, and either choose to neglect it, or think about or comment on it. So "I didn't know" isn't an excuse I'd buy from whoever gave the go-ahead to produce this design, especially since they're adults. I doubt they're "innocent" when it comes to innuendo. :z
Most young kids wouldn't "get it" though, so, I question if the people associated with Viacom who design and approve these toys get some deranged excitement out of thinking about the youth playing with or eating these things... in which case they REALLY need some professional help. <______<
So I wonder.. what IS the real reason these toys are getting approval to be mass-produced and sold to kids? I am curious to hear their excuse. Between the Youtube crisis and these products, I guess Viacom just wants everyone to suck its [yes] and they're gonna deliver that message any way possible. Hopefully these products will get discontinued for poor profit
because people aren't clueless nor want their kids to have them
Also, I can not fathom the idea that a family would suffer tremendous financial problems and even face poverty because somebody PMSed over their kid uploading a clip of a show they like to some video site and is inclined to throw their legal weight around every chance they get when they smell the green.
tl;dr: got some real pervs associated with viacom because this stuff doesn't just slip through unnoticed.
Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
