Beta Testing

Link Thread Closed
I as well would like to betatest this hack.

I didnt want to be a part of this hack in the sense of making anything for it due to my own hack that is being tested itself (by djsecret and a few other people so thats where he knows some unknown ones), and i still want to be involved in a major collab. I have a vast knowledge of glitches, knowing more than most members here, so i can easily find breaks and point out bad glitches. I do whatever it takes to beat levels in unintended ways, and in easy hacks such as this, i will do both that and do it savestateless. Ah, now theres graphical glitchyness, im easily bugged by things like that, noticing small things pixel by pixel and have a need to point them out (usually to myself). Every good detail makes the hack better.

I really like creativity of hacks, and creativity of anything for that matter. I have been a betatester to a few people for some time now, and some are no longer a part of this site, but i pointed out everything wrong i saw. Difficulty is also something i like to keep at a constant increase as things progress, i dont like jumping through munchers and in the next level running the entire thing through and not get damaged at all.

Even though i may not be a popular person here, and i have a reputation for a sucky hack a while back, things change, Im certainly not the same hacker i was last year. And doing this betatest will surely improve my skills, so i may actually contribute something good in the future.

Hope i get a spot for betatesting!
I've learned the collective intelligence of the human race amounts to roughly that of a bar of soap.
In other news, why am I here.
I think I would make a decent beta tester. Although I'm not too technical on SMW hacking, I can point out the obvious details such as glitches, issues with graphics, and much more. I could try to be as descriptive as I can, plus I may even make some videos on the Beta, if I can. At least that would give me something to do, plus I could give my own commentary on it if people don't want to read my details on this beta. I would also give suggestions on how to improve the hack, if any is needed.

Thank you.

Hello. Just another person you guys have probably never seen before asking to be a part of this project.

With that in mind, why would I expect you to pick me? The easiest answer is that I don't. I read a few of these, and people have been telling you they'll keep their eye out for the simple things such as floating munchers and bad palettes. Frankly, I don't believe that's what you're asking us to look for.

I wouldn't say I've truly beta tested any hacks, nor can I say I'm even active on this site at all. What I can provide for this hack is a heavy investigation into the game mechanics. In other words, one of my hobbies is an obsession with breaking video games/hacks, so I hope you've walled off every short cut, because I promise you that I will find it if you didn't. I have also had virtually no involvement in this hack, which should be fairly obvious.

Another important part of this is secrecy. Maybe you can't trust me because I'm not as active as others and you don't know me. I can respect that. However, all I ask is you give me the chance to use some of my own resources unrelated to smwcentral (and even some related) to show you why I can be trusted.

Up until a few months ago, I used to be a very highly respected Stadium Mode moderator at another site known as allisbrawl. Full access to the ranking system was awarded for the help, as well as a few select forums. The reason I'm not there any more is because I wanted to seek out a more fulfilling hobby. I have also been in close contact with Azure for many years, even before we both discovered this site. I wouldn't want my friendship with him to persuade you, but I have seen some early works of what he's doing for his hack, and he can testify that anything I see in your hack here will not be leaked. Of course, I hate to use other people as examples, but it's how I can personally prove you can trust me.

It may sound generic, but anybody can beta test this hack equally as well as others if they have their mind set on it, so perhaps my statement of what I can offer is simply meeting a little of the requirements originally asked, but I feel being able to know you sent the hack out to people who won't leak it is far more important. Besides, I'm not expecting to find too many things wrong with this hack. Judging by the trailer, it seems you've all done your homework.

Speaking of things like homework, my schedule is pretty empty right now, so I can offer you a lot of my time. I'll visit here again in a few days. As stated before, I don't actually expect you to pick me, but it would be super sweet of you if you considered it. ^_^
Hey. I've decided, after long thought, I may try and run for being a beta tester.

So... What can I offer? Well, I'd not just look for things that are wrong glitch wise, or cutoff, i'd also judge the FEEL of the level, seeing whether it is easy, or hard enough, for that world, and how fun it is. I also usually test every nook and cranny, finding every single secret, glitch, unfun part of a level.

I also have a LOT of time now, since my computer failed, and now I basically have nothing to do. I'd probably spend days playing, just to try and find one thing.

I'm probably not going to be picked, but at least I gave it a try. Thanks for reading.

Currently doing ExGFX Requests, please send me a PM, and i'll TRY to do what you want.
I think I'd make a good beta tester because over the last few months I have been scrutinizing my own hack. In my rush to release Koopa Castle Demo 2 in time for C3, I didn't get much personal testing in and not any beta testing by others. Lately I have been very good at spotting errors in my efforts to make a spotless hack myself.

I have been hearing about this hack for months, but I know almost nothing about its actual content. I have been too occupied to make my own levels for it, and I hope that beta testing can be my way of contributing.

Plus, I like having a sneak peek :)
Koopa Castle Demo 3 is (hopefully) on the way!

I wish to beta test because you gave me the option to and i have to much free time, which can easily be poured into beta testing a hack

namely, A SMWCP
I GRADUATED COLLEGE =D

Hey I know I'm still a relatively unknown person to everyone, but I would love to get started on playing a bigger role with the site and what better way to do that then Beta test a hack made by the site itself! I have no background with beta testing for the site previously, but I have played enough hack to somewhat know what to look for. I would love to help out anyway I can even if it isn't with the testing. I'm here to help anyway I can!!! Thanks!!
I would love a chance to beta test this hack. I have beta tested for several other SMW hackers, playing through games that range from big name games (TSRPR, ASMT to name a few), To Kaizo style hacks, some of which I was the ONLY tester to finish (search contently hypocritical on youtube). Unfortunately I have had no previous experience with this hack. I did try to get on the development team during the last round of level sign ups, though I was seconds (literally) to late. Even if I don't get selected, I would like to thank you and the team for considering me.
Finally returning to this awesome hobby!
I would enjoy a chance to beta test this hack. I have not contributed to it so far, as hacking isn't my greatest strength, and I would like to contribute.
I have experience in beta testing, as I have tested multiple hacks, and I have also found certain glitches in hacks that are on the site, and some in featured hacks.
As I said before, I have not contributed anything to An SMWCP so far, and I feel this is the best way I can contribute to the hack, and making it the best it can be.

Thanks.
I will be honest: I want to beta test this hack because I can't wait to play it. But I do think I would make a good beta tester too. I might not actually finish the hack (depending on my free time), and I haven't actually contributed so far (and I'm really sad about it), but I am a very experienced beta tester. Sometimes, for fun, I take hacks from the "Hacks Waiting To Be Moderated" section and moderate them, on my own. I have over 200 pictures of things I have found wrong with Super Mario Starlight Remix alone, and I can name the cause of each error. I can tell you exactly what is wrong with custom sprites, misplaced shooters, clashing generators, growing and shrinking pipe palettes, slopes, Layer 3 BGs, and a whole slew of other things some people have never even thought of. Most of these I know through experience or common sense, others through the Hack Rejection Thread (which I read for the funny screenshots, biting wit, and comparisons to my own results), but you can be sure that I can tell you every single reason why something is bad, right down to lack of reset doors.

Please accept me as a beta tester.
Still here, I guess. Despite all odds.
I didn't help in the hack itself but I wanted to. But I was just too late for all the levels.
As I will quit hacking smw soon, I do want to do something special for the last thing I do.
So I thought that this would be the perfect thing to be.
I read the Hack Removals a lot. Breaking levels is always fun to do, but of course only with glitches a non-TAS'er can do. Not like wall-jumping.
Bad level design is of course a very irritating aspect of a team-hack. It shouldn't be that hard for everybody here who made a decent hack to see the difference between bad and good level design.
Wrong placed sprites or wrong sprites aren't hard to detect.
Just paying attention to the level itself.

Of course you may think, hey that's what everybody says. But you should think of what his/her last post with SMW hacking was, any screenshots or so.

I cry when angels deserve to die <3

I do not often write on this message board, and you may consider me as a n00b, but I really want to take a part in this enterprise.

I've been a betatester of Mario: The Quest on Quiet Island (as ''Super Gracz'', you may remember me).
I've also been working on
Super Mario Infinity I The Cursed Gem, but, to be honest with you, I gave up in 6th World.

Despite that, I want to try my skills.
I would like to be a beta tester for ASMWCP. I thought I might try to help in some way with the hack.

First of all, I'm good at finding errors in stuff. I tend to have an eye for these things.
On a related note, I can easily spot spelling and grammar mistakes. And people (that is, one person) kind of find me annoying for doing it so much.
I don't really have any beta testing experience, but when I make my hacks, before sending testers a beta version I play through the entire thing myself trying to find as many errors as possible for me to fix.
Apparently I have good level design skills. I suppose this would mean I can judge quite well what is fun level design, and how to improve levels that are a little boring? I leave that to anyone that's played any of my hacks to judge.
Of course I know what I should be looking for, as far as I remember I have read all the Hack Removal Logs (like literally all of them) so I'd probably have a good grasp of what's acceptable and what isn't. Also my hack demo's featured on the site here.
The last thing I can think of right now is that I have a lot of free time on my hands. I don't have much else to do right now, and I can probably get the testing done quite quickly because of my tendency to keep doing the same thing until I get bored or stuck.

So yeah, that's it I guess. I really want to be able to assist in this hack's completion somehow, and this seems like the only way I can.
May we meet again outside the battlefield.
I, GearboxGoober, would like to have the privilege to beta test An SMWC Production.

Involvement-wise: I haven't been that involved with ASMWCP. I checked the screenshots & video thread near the end of the project but that is all. I wasn't around/I didn't know about this until recently and I wanted to somehow be part of the hack, but since all the levels were taken I thought there was no way until this.

Why should I be a beta tester?:
-I can look at the overall level to find were specific areas may need improvement compared to others so that the whole level flows.
-I'm good at finding glitches that could be level breaking or major in some other way.
-(Thanks to the removal log) I know ways to search for hidden/small cutoff that could be anywhere.
-For actual beta testing, I can find all those errors, but I can find ways to fix them as well, along with my other suggestions about the hack and how certain parts could be improved.

I can get the beta testing done fast and efficiently, for obvious reasons this would be good for the hack.

I hope you consider me for this, as I know I can do a fine job with this, and you won't be disappointed.
8 Trials Await (2010) lol|

If I didn't had 2 other projects to beta test, I'd surely want beta test this. #w{:<}

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
I'll throw my hat in the ring.

I'd like to beta test, because I'm a beta-tester kinda guy. I still can't level design for [expletive of choice], but I've learned since the level signups thread (you know, about common sense and all that), and I still feel like I can help this project along somehow.

That and my work ethics, general promptness and the organization in my responses. But who needs that?
we are all 😎 but some are more 😎 than others
I think I would make a good beta tester because when I want/need to, I can have a really good eye for screwups. While I haven't actually beta tested anything except my own hacks, nor have I actually participated in ASMWCP, when beta-testing my own hacks I have noticed plenty of screwups, some of which were actually obvious. I have learned from my own screwups as to what is missing and what isn't, or what is done incorrectly. Altogether, I have a good eye for anything that's not supposed to be there, and since I've had to beta-test my own roms, I know what to look for.
Want to see some of my cool swords? Well, too bad, right now you only get to see one of them, and it's my avatar. Might set up some kind of gallery/portfolio at some point, though.
I think I would be suitable for the role as a beta tester in the hack ASMWCP. My reasons for this are, I could efficiently review the hack on its overall appeal to the crowd; and perhaps use this information to construct a basic idea of what areas could be improved compared to others. I have previously had experience beta testing certain hacks (not just SMW), however, in the past I have currently beta tested 3 SMW hacks and have judged or competed in various level design contests. I do understand (due to lack of ROM space) some music themes have been used in more than 1 level, so I am aware of this. I’ve been involved in ASMWCP- I created the Graphics and Palettes and assisted in the created CDPower’s level. Finally I'm an experienced SMW hacker and Beta tester, and I now kinda wish I'd been a bit more involved in the project. Thankyou.

I would like to be a beta tester because even though I could still be considered new to hacking, I have played many hacks before and I am always looking for new inspir.... Ahem new thrills when it comes to this game. Smaller errors like cutoff may slip my eye, but I never use savestates, unless I make a mistake. I have the tendency to explore everything I can in a level, so secrets, BEWARE! :P I am great with puzzles! I have not been involved with making this hack (Man, do I regret it!) If you'd like me to be a beta tester, feel free to PM me.
I would like to be a Beta Tester, because I'm good at spotting Cutoff, bad pallets, unfitting musics, gliched graphics, and other bad things™.
If you need me, just call me. =D
