Base ROM: Initial Insertions I

I'd just like to garner a quick discussion on which sprites/blocks people want in the base ROM as a "template". Obviously, you guys can claim stuff when the time comes too, but I actually want to have stuff prepared for easy access.

Here's a small list of each which I think would be appropriate. Feel free to toss in ideas of your own.




BLOCKS:
-Teleport Block
-Smashable Brick
-Instant-Kill Block
-Solid only to Mario
-Solid only to Sprites
-Solid only during Blue/Silver P-Switch.
-Solid only when ON/OFF.
-Slippery Blocks
-Top/Side/Bottom Hurt Blocks
-Sensitive Block
-Ice Block
-Break with Shell Block

SPRITES:
-Ceiling Generator
-Vertical Autoscroll Generator
-Half-time P-Switches
-Hammer/Fire/Boomerang Bros.
-Venus Plants (rightside up, upside down)
-Horizontal Thwomps
-Firebar
Two questions:
a) about When will this be released (prolly not before the signups)

b) What about patches?

Advertising Space

For starters....

- Solid only to Mario
- Solid only to Sprites
- Solid only during Blue/Silver P-Switch.
- Solid only when ON/OFF.

- Hurt only from Top/Bottom/Side blocks could work if people could be bothered to use GFX that wasn't just a reskin of Muncher graphics. When something from the side shouldn't clearly hurt you. Also it'd be nice for situations with Silver POWs that wouldn't turn into coins.
- Same for Ersan's slippery blocks for anyone else that's really, really interested in the Hailfire world (ie: me).

a) Not until we're fully prepared to begin levels (or a bit before).

b) I'll just pull the patches from the patch suggestion thread. This is more or less for specifics.
Well, for starters...

Blocks
-Fragile Block
-Break By Fireball Block
-Break with Shell

Sprites
-Birdo /w Ridable Egg
-Hammer/Boomerang Bro

These are all the ones I can think of right now.

I think the Vertical Autoscroll generator would be a nice addition, but yeah, that's about it.
I suggest:

- Koyuki's p-switch block
- Koyuki's upside down p-switch block

Those are in the site and could be very useful if you don't want to use p-switch sprite.

Also:

- on water level block
- off water level block

Those blocks came with the old Bock tool's bolcks pack. And could be useful foe a water level gimmick.

and:

- twhomp crush block
- question block with a mushroom inside (if you don't want to give Mario a flower or a feather)


Sprites:

-venus fire-trap
-Upside down venus fire trap
-horizontal twhomp (with SFX)
-shy guys and snifts
-teleport when there aren't any sprite sprite on the screen
-SMAS fire bar (a lot of people like to use it)

that's all for now
Reverse switch palace blocks, if such a thing exists.
^ They do, but they're extended objects, not blocks. And I'd like to suggest a stationary springboard for the sprites...for now.

As far as the sprites go, though, I HIGHLY recommend that we use the new Sprite Tool. It should easily be finished before SMWCP2 officially begins, and it is much more flexible than mikeyk's or Romi's.

Currently: Making my SMWCPII level

An SMW Central Production II level:
131 - Factory Castle
-One-way pass-through blocks
-Underwater doors
-No yoshi blocks (ones that kill yoshi, not just block him)
-Sink blocks (I believe the block is called "Airwalker")

I've realized this was outdated.
I could easily make doors that work underwater, so that shouldn't be a problem. We could also use the sprite door if we wanted.

It was colored too brightly, and the animation paused for four frames before shining again.
(unless of course we use totally custom graphics for it)
...yeah, for the record, I'm looking for general or common blocks and sprites - not ones that are that specific.

I realize this is slightly off topic, but just thought I'd point out that this block exists in the original game-- just set a block to act like tile 16B.

(I personally disapprove of using it though-- what's wrong with giving the player a flower or feather, unless you're using Counter Break or something (which I highly doubt this hack will use), or you have some kind of Mario HP patch applied (again, I doubt it)?)
