What religion are you?

I'm a devout Pastafarian.

I'm an Atheistic Unitarian Universalist. Unitary Universalism is all about believing what you want to believe, whether it be God, extinct religions, nothing at all, or even a flying spaghetti monster. They talk about many issues, not just things relating to some kind of god. They do mention other religions, and accept all of them.
Raised as (believe it or not) Mormon, but I really don't care for any religion. Not atheist, either.
Raised as a Muslim, came to the conclusion that I didn't believe in God.
Therefor:Atheist.

Strong agnostic, I strongly believe that I'll never know what to believe. I really do like the philosophies of some of the eastern religions though, Buddhism in particular makes a whole lot of sense.

I honestly don't care how the universe was made or how we came to be. There are just so many possibilities, and no absolute way to actually know, that I think it's better to not strain yourself over it, focus on what's actually going on right now in humanity instead of what may have happened billions upon trillions of eons ago. Maybe you could think about it if you're bored or something. I don't know if there's a name for people like me.

I firmly believe that there should order and balance in the world. Unlike those dirty plebeian Gaians, us Messians can achieve peace, safety and prosperity.

You Messians have got it all wrong. Assisting the weak and keeping the strong in check... The weak and unfit shouldn't be babied, it's survival of the fittest after all. All you're doing by protecting them with your "laws" is holding back the rest of society and taking from the fit what is rightfully theirs. We don't need more order, we need more freedom.

When there's absolute freedom in the world, the weak are pruned and the fit survive and humanity advances; when you Messians interfere with this natural order, you hold back this advancement.

So, enough sir, die sir!

Just roll over and die, asshole!*

Brofist. I was raised Mormon too, but I'm a hardcore atheist.

I don't really care if someone isn't atheist as long as their religious ideology doesn't get in the way of progress though.
Also raised Mormon.

Curiously it wasn't any of the mormon doctrine that killed my faith; it was the old testament. I was pretty ok with the mormon stuff (though I took much of the history as metaphor, rather than fact, unlike most mormons).
I'm glad I don't believe in anything. I don't worry about nothing, or go anywhere. The best part is I don't get into religions wars. It's one less thing I worry about.
I'm Christian.

A (very slight) bump; but it's a topic I feel very passionately about so I owe something to this discussion.

First off: there's no such thing as agnostic. You're a theist or you're an atheist. Saying "there's no way for us to know so I don't take a stance" is both dodging a bullet and ignorant. If you don't believe in a God, then you are an atheist, if you believe in a God, you're a theist. If you think "I would be an atheist but I don't want to rule out the possibility", then...

There isn't a single atheist that will say "I know for sure there is no God" because it IS impossible to know. Some of the better known atheists of the world, such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris etc. all say that there is absolutely no way to know, but that the order of the world works without the assumption. The only group of people who postulate that there is a way to know is the theists; who, ironically enough, disregard all other Gods but hold a blind spot to their own.

If it wasn't blatantly obvious from my tone, I'm an atheist... and an anti-theist, I guess, as I very much wouldn't like it to be true either. I just thought I'd throw out this for you all.

I have a problem with your statement, Josh. Mainly, at you stating that an agnostic is someone who thinks that "there's no way for us to know so I don't take a stance". Honestly, the "I don't take a stance" part was very uncalled for, and quite ignorant of you. First off, they do take a stance, and their stance is "neither believing nor disbelieving in god".
Further more, you rule out the possibility that there are people out there who really don't know whether they themselves believe in god or not. It's not always "I would be an atheist but I don't want to rule out the possibility of a god existing", or "I would be religious but I don't want to rule out the possibility of god not existing", there are also people who don't know what they would be, since they value both possibilities.

And then, you state that the only reason to be an agnostic is "there's no way for us to know". Frankly, that is only one type of agnosticism. For example, other types include the "I don't care whether there is a god"(aka "it doesn't make a difference whether god exists or not") agnosticism, and the much more fun variant, the "My opinion on whether a god exists or not is irrelevant" agnosticism

Bad Sind!

To respond to the OP though, I honestly couldn't care less, I don't even consider myself agnostic or anything, as that, as Sind said, implies that I take a stance, thus rendering me caring about the subject.
However, having actually though about that again shows that I actually care.

So yeah, my response would pretty much be I don't care, however, I have a really odd habit of praying to God whenever something in my life goes really wrong, for example if one of my relatives is in hospital or in danger or when someone is missing, despite knowing that it doesn't change anything, and I'm pretty sure it says somewhere that only praying when you're in need of help and not do it regularly doesn't help, but I'm kind of afraid of something bigger.

Jesus Christ I thought too much about this for saying that I don't care.

I have always thought that there is a spectrum leading from atheism to theism.

- Atheism: There is no God.
- Disinterest: I don't really care if there is a God or not.
- Positive Agnosticism: We can't know if there is a God.
- Negative Agnosticism: We can't prove that there isn't a God.
- Skepticism: There might be a God, but I don't know for certain.
- Deism: There is a higher power.
- Monotheism/Polytheism: There is a God/there are Gods. This level also includes beliefs like pantheism, panentheism, etc.
When I said "There is no way for us to know, so I don't take a stand" I literally meant you don't take a stand for atheism or theism. It wasn't... meant to be slanderous in any way. I don't know how you got that from what I said.

Anyway, my point was that if you don't believe in a God, you don't believe in a God. Arbitrary denominations of "atheism" are pointless. It doesn't matter whether or not you don't care, or whether or not you can know. :p

Camerin: Atheism doesn't mean there is no God. It means we believe there probably isn't one. Nobody can know for sure. There isn't a single atheist who says that there definitely isn't a God; most just take it in the same light as Zeus or Thor.

Your definition of Athiesm is my definition of Agnosticism.

To me, Athiests believe there is no God. No ifs, ands, or buts. They believe it as strongly as a Theist believes their god(s) exist.
I am a christian. I've been raised christian my whole life and attending the same church my whole life...aside from a few years when I moved but my family is very attached to this church family so we came back. It is very small so everyone knows eachother and we've been through a lot of fun times through out my life it kind of overwhelms me. So..yeah I am Baptist/ Christian.
Well, a lot of my family are Christians, although they don't go to church or anything.

It doesn't bother me how this world was made, it's here, let's be thankful we have it. And not destroy it.

So you could say I'm Agnostic, but want to look after the world.
I want to say this:

An Atheist does not necessarily believe that there is no god. Atheism is the lack of belief in a god, but not necessarily the belief that there absolutely is no god.

An Antitheist believes that there is no god, and is opposed to the idea of one.

Basically, I'm Atheist because I personally don't believe there is a god, but I accept that no one can know for sure, and I could be wrong about the whole thing. If I was going around saying, "People, there is no God!" I would be an Antitheist instead.
