The SMW Hacking Trivia Contest: Results Pending.

Other Contest/EventRules

Due to .. complications, the overworld designing contest has been delayed until July, just because. So in it's place, I bring you this smaller, yet still difficult contest which will test your SMW hacking knowledge - a simple challenge of trivia.

Over the past few days, I have written up fifty different questions about SMW Hacking in general. In this contest, the rules are simple. The questions will be posted here, and it is up to you to answer the most correctly. Since there will obviously be cheating if you reply here, I would like the answered sent to me in a PM, numbered of course. If I can't read your PM, I'll just skip over it, easy as that. The winner of this contest will, like the other one, receive a trophy, along with the second and third placers.

To prevent bias, I will post everyone's scores here who submitted questions to me after the contest is closed to prevent arguments. I will not, however, post your answers. If you would like your answers back, "marked", just ask me for them.

I HAVE ONE RULE FOR THIS THREAD:</b> - Do NOT discuss the questions themselves here. You may discuss the contest itself, or, if you do not understand the meaning of a specific question (be realistic on this - don't ask for an answer) then by all means ask. If you discuss answers themselves though, your post will be deleted and you will receive a 24 hour ban. Not only does it ruin the fun for everyone else, it is also an annoyance.</s> You may now discuss whatever you want.

Here are the 50 questions. Cut on the dotted line, and PM your answers to me once you have answered as many as you can.

------------------------------

It will be up to you to find out the answers to these by using these tools yourself. Searching the threads around SMW Central might net you an answer too. Consider it more of a "scavenger hunt" as well. If you are a new hacker, this quiz will be a great way to get you used to the advanced stuff.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not PM me your answers until you are SURE you have answered as many as you can, starting 11:40 PM EST on April 8. If you have sent me answers before then, and had planned on sending me more later, you may do so. From now on, I want all of the answers in one big PM.

The contest closes on Sunday, April 13th. Good luck.

Looks like fun... I'm just worried that a lot of people will get all 51 right... (mabye a tiebreaker on the irc would do the trick)

Anyways, nobody be a d-bag and change previous posts of yours with answers in them to make them wrong and we'll be okay.

I'll get started tomorrow....

Just...no. I'm never on IRC, so even if I get all of them right I would have no chance at winning. -_-

I was about to say the same. -_-
This contest has nothing to do with IRC. It has to do with SMW Central.

If a tie is made, there will be a 5 question face-off or something of the sort. I am 99% sure that this will not happen, however.

(also, spigmike, they are PMing me the answers. If anyone posts them here, they suffer the wrath of that big red text in the first post)
On question 20, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Do you mean setting event tiles over each other on separate events?

On the right side of the screen, when in 8x8 mode, there are a bunch of blue x tiles underneath the event tiles which are already there. Can you safely draw more tiles there and have them appear in the layer 2 event editor without any conflict?
I meant like answers that are in the other forums, SNN

I'm gonna try to answer these without looking at the tools at all, all by shear memory and knowledge.
I didn't know knowledge of razors could get you that far in the contest. (joke)

Grammar trivia:

TRUE OR FALSE
"It's" is only used as a contraction of "it is" while "its" is used for it in all other forms, including possession.

Oh snap.
Two days left in this contest. Be sure to get your answers in if you want a shot at the trophy. I have quite a few already, but no one has gotten perfect yet (or even come relatively close >_>) Try your luck at as many as you can - you never know!
I was pretty sure I got an A. A- at least.
*sighs*

*drops PM in and walks out the door*

I think I missed two or less. That would be 49/51, or 96%.

The contest is now closed. You may now discuss any answers to the questions, or anything else at all here while you wait for the results. Expect me to have them marked by Tuesday-Wednesday - there were quite a few entries.
