Mosts 2019 - Information & Discussion

Oh buddy it's that time again. The Mosts 2019...

In the wise words of one Impetus from last years Mosts, "the Mosts are a yearly user-nominated awards event. Vote using the link above for the user who you think falls into each category, based entirely on your own personal opinion. Of course, be rational: don't vote for a single user in every category or make blatantly undeserved votes, or your votes will be removed."

This year, we have also introduced new categories for Best New Hacker, Best New ASMer, Best New Musician and Best New Graphics Artist. These categories are intended to shine a light to the users who have made a big impact in these categories during 2019 - so please don't vote for users who have been around the block a while!

There are also new categories for Best General Hack of 2019 and Best Kaizo/Pit Hack of 2019. You can vote for SMW, SM64, or YI hacks for each.

Voting is quite easy. First, visit the event page for Mosts 2019. There, you will see the votes of everyone else, as well as a link to submit your own votes in the top-right corner (you can also get to the voting page directly from the list of all events). You will be greeted by an array of dropdown menus, which you will use to cast your votes:
  • For most categories, you just type a name in the search field. Unlike previous years, only votes for eligible users are accepted - in most cases, this means no banned users and no inactive users, but this depends on the category.
  • Valid users will be shown in a drop down as you type, but you'll need to fill out a few letters before suggestions are given. When you find your user, click on them to select them.
  • Most categories allow you to vote for up to 3 people. Each vote has the same weight. To vote for multiple people, simply erase your previous search from the field (or press Esc) and type in another username. Users you've already selected will always appear at the top of the menu.
  • For pair categories (where two users are voted to win a Most together), the categories are split up into a separate menu for each vote. The two people you select in each menu make up one pair. You can leave a menu empty to skip the respective vote.
  • Some categories allow you to vote for resources or hacks rather than users. Make sure to read the categories clearly before voting!
  • After you're done making your selections, click the Submit button to cast your votes and make them public! You can go back to the voting page and edit your votes at any time before the Mosts end.
That should be all. If you have questions related to the voting system or something feels off, feel free to ask in this thread or contact Telinc1. Have fun!

Voting will end on December 21st, 3:00 CST.
nice

oh boy cant wait to get Most Wanted
I would vote, but I don't know what to put for at least 100% of the categories. Hopefully I'll know what to vote for one of the categories.

We've got I don't know a good name., I don't know a holiday name., so what's next? I don't know a good password.?

Hack progress:
World 1: Complete!
World 2: Working on it. "Working on it" = about 1/2 a level per month (even though I'm actually making progress now)
World 3: Not done.
World 4: Not done.
World 5: Not done.
World 6: Not done.

geez

No need to fill every category. You can leave votes even if it's only a few categories.

KLDC 2020 progress: 95%
friendly reminder that YOU CANNOT VOTE FOR "Jimmy x Ladida" in NEITHER "Most Likely Couple" NOR "Most Unlikely Couple" BECAUSE WE ARE THE SAME USER. LADIDA IS SIMPLY JIMMY'S REREG ACCOUNT. you are free to pair us individually with other users, just not together. Telling y'all now so that the staff doesn't have to deal with the issue later when counting votes. thanks〜
How did mods allow Jimmy to rereg as Ladida then?
KLDC 2020 progress: 95%
Just like they allowed my rereg pinci

Between holidays display names don't reset so if you left a halloween name when they got turned off you keep it when christmas comes around and vice versa
if you don't vote for me i'm gonna pick up my sniper rifle, and you know the rest of the story

In all seriousness, may everybody have a good time as usual.

Not gonna lie, the mosts feels too way different every year, compared to what they used to be years ago. Personally I feel that some categories are missed (pun intended), especially some ones that used to be very iconic, but somehow got scrapped. But apparently people is fine with this, so nothing much else to say.

It's good to see more new categories, though.

Also, I noticed that, while votes show regular usernames, the voters are still displayed under holidays names in the post sidebar, is there a chance to change that? or am I the only one who find it weird?

The mosts didn't really have that stark of a difference until last year when the negative categories were removed, which yeah some of said categories were iconic but the community is better off with them removed. The negative categories gave some users () an excuse to remain shitty users because they could be rewarded for it with a most (most likely to x before becoming staff, rudest, etc). Being a rude user should not be rewarded, and neither should any other category that paints a user in a negative light. Plus it mitigates a lot of the drama the mosts had in previous years as well.

Eh, I didn't think anything of it personally.

Really though? From my experience the negative categories never "rewarded" or encouraged bad users to continue being assholes, in fact they generally made the user who earned them to get angry or pissy with the community for being so rude with them instead, and that usually caused lots of shitstorms. I'm 100% sure that's the reason they were removed in the first place because I don't remember there ever being a user who legit felt "good" or "rewarded" for earning a most in a negative category.

You could disable holiday/display names for the time being in edit profile.
