Been bumping the album
Beachboy by Mccafferty lately. On first listen you'll probably be wondering "wait, is this the same guy from The Front Bottoms?" Well no, but they're heavily inspired yes (shamelessly, as the lyrics on Bottom will remind you). It's very fun, and I love his voice and the overall instrumentation. It's a really good album to just put on and vibe to.
The best track is definitely the
title track, I just love the disjointed nature of the song (I have a huge soft spot in my heart for songs that barely sound like they can keep themselves together). Other standouts are Dead-Bird, The Lion's Den, Blue Eye's Like the Devil's Water, and Wait.
Overall the singing / song style is probably very polarizing, and the lyrics are deliberately repetitive, but idk I love this kind of stuff. I'm just surprised it took me so long to get into this. I really love two of their other releases, but the second track on this one just put me off for so long (it's the worst song on the album definitely). I'm just glad I pushed through it and got into it.
