i wanted to port sonic 2 with a focus on accuracy, so i ported sonic 2 with a focus on accuracy.

soundtrack is incomplete, but i fully intend to complete it. maybe by the end of c3???????? probably not. but i'm going to gradually drip in some songs as the event goes on :winkwonk:
A great set just matches the soundtrack!

This is awesome! Finally, a quality Mystic Cave Zone port!

Very glad to see these finally out and about, very good job with em!
Sounds good but EHZ SPC is broken.
fixed the op. also, the four songs have been submitted. I'll do another four tomorrow, and one other spc tonight. I'll continue adding songs as I complete them, so keep an eye out.

thanks for the positive feedback! and I forgot to mention it
before, but a special thanks to bebn and maxo who provided valuable feedback and input! I mad appreciate it, yall!
I can't believe how many of those songs I've heard before in the form of ancient ports that made me think the originals weren't that great. Your ports sound a lot more modern and polished!

@Nameless The Sonic 2 [Genesis] soundtrack you're porting is amazing! #smw{:TUP:}
Woah! That was unexpected. It makes me really happy to see you porting stuff and actually releasing it. Everything I'm seeing here sounds pretty great. Keep it up!
listens to first few ports

Aaaaaahhh!

listens to the rest of them

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

The nostalgia is really getting to me with your ports!

Whew... okay. If I'm going to be for real, these ports are pure unsampled quality! (please tell me the Metropolis one is unsampled, I didn't check in the SPC player) The ones I enjoyed listening to the most were Chemical Plant Zone, Hill Top Zone (noice @14 usage) and Metropolis Zone. Man, this was a really nice series of ports you have showcased.

Sonic 2 has my favourite OST out of Sonic1-3+CD. These are all so good I just want to listen to them all day!

metropolis is unsampled, they're all unsampled

thank u everyone for your love, give me more and it will only lead to good things (like getting death egg done faster)
Nice, Hazel :)

First off, it's impressive how the Thunder SFX can be used as clapping when the pitch is really high.

In Oil Ocean Zone, I hear a wrong note around 0:07~0:08, it's supposed to be F+ and not F natural.

I'm not really hearing the triplet-y shuffle beat in Mystic Cave Zone (more specifically in the bass), but I'm not exactly hearing a straight beat either. If that's the case, what numbers did you use to organise the rhythm? Definitely doesn't look like 12 24 to me...

if you didn't point it out, i never would've noticed. big typo on my part, thanks for catching that!

a combination of tempo changes in an otherwise blank #7 that gets abandoned around the end of the song for a bit, and a lot of x=15 x=9 tick values. apart from the tempo speed (which i'm adjusting for the release of the song, later today wink wink) i can't seem to pick up a difference.

thank youuuuuu!
These are all fantastic. They'll definitely be appreciated for those who want come stellar tracks to use in their hacks.
I live for Hill Top Zone remixes so hearing such a good port of it brings such peace to my soul. #smrpg{<3}
I'm just here to say this honestly:

Please, please finish the Death Egg Zone port; I want to hear more of that pitch modulated bass, it sounds fucking amazing, and it's a damn shame to see it being cut off like that too despite the joke giving me a good laugh lmao

Outside of that, I love the Sonic 2 soundtrack, and seeing unsampled ports of this much quality is just great to see haha

new submissions:
hill top
mystic cave
???
oil ocean

new wip: wing fortress (still needs some mixing magic, but otherwise good to go)

fourth upload if i decide to finish it, otherwise it'll be metropolis.

ok
Few suggestions or things I want to point out:

I think Metropolis Zone's tom-toms should have a lower pitch than the snare.

When the "harmonica" does the pitch-bend at the beginning, I think it could land on E as the highest point instead of D+? Edit: I meant Hill Top Zone, sorry for not mentioning it sooner.

Let me know what you think after trying these suggestions.

I think the bass in Emerald Hill Zone is very slightly behind the beat because I feel like they're not syncing with the hi-hats.

In Robotnik, I hear the drums in the beginning portion being higher-pitched and clearer than Death Egg Zone's. Are the differences supposed to be intentional?
updated mystic cave and metropolis. i didn't like it tuned to E, so i went up to F and bumped up the decay a bit. i figured it was for hill top, but that went a bit too high for my liking when i tried it before - still keeping the change on metropolis, though.

bass in emerald hill is mostly fine, i think that's just @14 messing with your head.

thanks for the suggestions!

oh, also death egg does not reflect the final robotnik product, i just hastily made the joke without any regard to custom instruments
