"so 2 mice walk into a bar..." is an 18-exit normal-to-hard difficulty hack created as a collaboration between myself and idol. It's a spiritual successor to the first "mice" hack, although unlike that one, this uses resources that were released outside of C3. Each level is filled with interesting gimmicks, fun level design, and zero plenty of aesthetics.

Major thanks to Gbreezesunset and FPzero for beta testing this on such short notice!

Enjoy! Happy C3!

Pleasantly surprised that you still exist, and this hack now does too! With the level design you've been showing videos of here and there, and the lovely visuals (idol's work I take it?), this is on its way to being an instant classic. Definitely putting this on my to-play list!

(this better have the carryable pipes!)

then you're in luck, because this definitely isn't kaizo

(also added a difficulty note up top for others, as it may not have been super obvious what type of hack this was at first glance)
looks alright but where are all the grey cement blocks :/
snn asked me to join his nifty little hack in early december, and i agreed because he offered to pay me. i was able to make 3 levels during that time (so most the levels are his), but i made all his levels pretty and also did the overworlds.

when we submit to the site i'll include a full list of credits. i just forgot to keep track so i gotta go back and figure out what the fuck we used.
That graphics has really super cool from like me's hack, Did they match from high quality graphics from either hacks? I will be accepted to making more levels as better design and quality like snn and idol's hack

I beat more than half of the game and am already in love. Nice to see you making a comeback with the usual creative level design you have, and the levels and map are really pretty graphically.

You overlooked some nifty issues which have more to do with difficulty. This dolphin is unpredictable as you don't know when there's safe ground for it before entering the pipe. Timing this part well is also brutal due to how little time you have there (I almost had a hard time with it).
Also, for some reason this level frees the secret exit even though I didn't find it, making the level dot on the other map fail to spawn (EDIT: this issue is related to the one below). Some shells don't know how to bounce from triangles.

Excellent work in advance you two!

This looks really my kind of thing. I'll try to give it a shot soon, not many hacks that interest me these days.

Y'all went balls to wall with them sprite-only and player-only solid blocks in this hack. #wario{O_O}

It was fun tho. Was pretty impressive to see how you could manipulate sprites to solve little puzzles and progress through the levels. Standouts would have to be the Boomerang powerup, Fire-Breathing Piranha, and Propeller Block levels. While every level had the same basic gimmick, there was plenty of variety to keep me on my toes.

Dope. #wario{:peace:}

Noted. Janctze River is my level, and I have a few tweaks I want to make based on the feedback I've gotten so far before we upload the hack to the site.

This is supposed to simply be a section where you walk across the blue TNTs. It seems like the last two didn't spawn for you - is that the case? A few had been removed due to sprite limitations, but it seems like it may still be an issue.

idol fixed this a little while ago and updated the link, I believe.

Thanks! The level with the boomerang was one of my favorites to design for this - tons of possibilities, and I would have loved to take it even further (perhaps one day...).
Glad to see you're still not dead and doing stuff. Honestly, didn't expect a collab with idol. Since anything where idol is included wins, i better praise this, before you get drowned in the immeasurable amount of wealth from the gold trophy you'll receive for this.

How am I supposed to get to the pipe at the bottom-right corner of the starting area? I've gotten every secret exit and nothing seems to be coming up. My only complaint about this hack is that I can't figure out how to get to the last couple levels of platforming bliss.

Yeah, that was the case. Had it not been the slight lag that was a result of sprite limitations, I wouldn't have realized they were supposed to spawn there.
Didn't finish it yet, but I think that's pretty cool, it has some interesting and unique challenges and the overworld is very pleasant.
May I ask you how did you do the enemy stacking (smm style) in "Chiams and Undoing"?

I never played the other Mice Hack so I'll have to try them both out when I get around to playing them.
From what I have seen levels tend to really explore a gimmick in depth which is kinda what I love seeing in hacks. #smrpg{y}

Nice work you two!!

idol did a stealth update to the ROM but forgot to move the player back to world 1 for like an hour. You probably downloaded the ROM during that time - sorry about that! The patch has since been fixed. Mario should start on the first house on the grass map, if you want to keep your current file and move him there in Lunar Magic.
it alright #lm{grad}
Oh, nice, S.N.N. and idol working on a hack together? This has to be good! Always loved S.N.N.'s stuff back in the day, and also loved the stuff that idol showed last C3. This also looks pretty cool and I gotta remember to give it a try!

Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
