I think it's safe to say over the years I've gotten a lot better at this whole porting thing, but I won't lie, I look back on a lot of my old submissions and cringe. I had a substantial chunk of them anonymized because there were a lot of things I ported just for the sake of submitting something, which either lead to some really low quality ports or ports that just aren't very useful (or both).

There are still a lot of ports I've submitted that aren't very good or are kinda lacking in comparison with my current skillset, but the song at the core of the port is good and deserves a higher quality version, so I'm gonna remake a lot of my old ports. There are also some old ports of mine from 2017 that never saw the light of day and are worthy of being reworked as well. Figured it would be fun to document the process.

Listed below are all the ports I plan to remake and my reasons for wanting to remake it.

Hey man, mad respect for the humility you show towards ya previous work. I cannot wait to see the final versions of these especially Asteroid Dance, I love that song!

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei - Jakyou 1

BEFORE ///// AFTER

Also while doing some digging I discovered more stuff I never fully released or thought was lost.

Mega Man Battle Network - Running in the Cyber World
Shin Megami Tensei - Ruins
Tiny Toon Adventures - Final Stage (Earthbound Arr.)
Dark Cloud 2 - Moon Flower Palace

I'll put more info in the original post but expect these to be fixed as well.

EDIT:

Tyrian - Asteroid Dance 1

Saved some ARAM on this one

I think the NES-like version could stay. Someone could use it in an 8-bit-ish hack. I'd like to hear the new version, though. The existing one doesn't need to be replaced, it could co-exist with the other one.

1. Not a lot of people are making NES themed stuff
2. Even when the port is updated you can still access the old version by viewing version history
Good job on the Jakyou 1 port. It sounds really close to the original. (I need to play more Megaten) The Asteroid Dance port also sounds really good.

This project seems like quite the undertaking. Good luck on seeing it through. u can do it

I love the addition of before and after, gives the thread a real perspective on how far you have come as an smw porter.

That SMT port sounds incredible btw.

Also, I love the asteroid dance rendition. For C|C though, it wouldn't be the same with out the obnoxious @7, haha.

Keep up the great work!

1. Which doesn't mean everyone who made NES-like stuff has to get away with it. Also, why don't you wanna be one of the few who make it?
2. If you're new and you don't notice version history, you won't even know there was a retro version or if you know there was, you won't download it directly from SMW Music section (unless you're told you could download the old version).

This port wasn't on my list of things to fix but it should have been.

Romancing SaGa 3 - Podorui
Nice job, I always loved Podorui and this is an exceptional port of it!
