It's been a bit longer than anticipated but the results for the Base Rom Level Design Contest are finally here! Thank you for your patience.
Before we get to the results, let's take a moment to thank the judges for their time and effort spent judging. Unfortunately, Noivern had to drop out of judging due to real-life conflicts coming up. While we did have a backup judge lined up, Noivern's notice that he had to drop came late into judging enough that I didn't want to take the time to have another judge go through everything, and potentially delay results even longer. I was confident that 3 judges would be okay. The scores from the other three judges, Teyla, sinc-x, and S.N.N., are the ones that made up the placements. These three will each receive this new BLDC Judge trophy, designed by Eevee.
Additionally, all participants whose levels were not Disqualified or were not Top 3 will receive a shiny BLDC Participant trophy!
And now, what you've all been waiting for.
Rounding out the Top 10, we have:
10th: "VANILLA VOLCANO", by toad64, with 77.67/100.00 points
Tied for 8th: "sinkin' shipp", by Erik & Dakras Hayashi, and "bubble butt", by Sixcorby, both with 78.33/100.00 points
7th: "PREPOSTEROUS ATHLETIC", by MiracleWater, with 81.00/100.00 points
6th: "Lava Temple", by EternityLarva, with 82.00/100.00 points

In third place, we have:

In second place, we have:
"Canon of Shenandoah", by idol & gbreezesunset, with 89.33/100.00 points!
And finally, first place. The winner of the first Base Rom Level Design Contest is...!
"Kirov Airship", by worldpeace, with 90.00/100.00 points!
Congratulations to the winners! They will all receive the trophies shown next to their positions. The Top 3 also win a game code from our list of codes. Please get in contact with Noivern to receive your codes.
Like with VLDC, I'm going to link to link directly to the BLDC Scoring Spreadsheet the judges used to allow everyone to see the full scoring placements for the contest. The rightmost column of the spreadsheet holds the internal numbering system we used for randomizing the order in which judges played the levels. To find your level in the feedback provided by the judges (links below) you may need to know this internal number.
Unfortunately there were two disqualifications. Click this collapse tag to see their reasons for disqualification:
Here are the links to the judges' comments. These will have detailed score breakdowns for each of the categories levels were judged on, as well as feedback about the levels themselves. I highly recommend reading them to help learn and improve further!
Thanks once again to all the judges and thanks to everyone who participated. This was a new contest, and it was a little rough in places, but I know I definitely want to host a BLDC2 in the future. It won't happen this year, but keep an eye out in the future for it to return, better tested and with even more fun things for people to work with!
3rd is WAY better than I expected with all the janky shenanigans in my level
Congrats to everyone else, especially those in the top 10 and top 2! Big thanks to the judges for working hard on this as well.
Meh, I knew I might be a bit rusty since it had been a while since I made an actual level prior to starting my work on Jumpopolis. I figured that I probably wouldn't win, and that's totally fine. It simply is inspiring me to do better for the next CLDC (and hopefully I'll have gotten some of that rust off if I do decide to give it a shot).
Still, 23rd place and 63.67 points isn't too bad at all.

Well I guess my rank was well deserved after all. Thanks for the advice and recommendations. I had a blast designing the cat-Mario part of the level and I'm glad that it is what stood out in the end. I still have a lot to learn on how to introduce concepts and use setups consistently.
Tomorrow, I'll play again the levels and read the comments, it's always an interesting experience.
I remember hating on some levels and predicting they're gotta have a lower score than mine... I'd need to review that again and check how it worked out. Anyways the pre-judging topics by S.N.N and idol will help remembering.
Thanks a bunch to the organisation and congratulations to the nominees.

I'm really happy with 15 place! I read all the feedback from the judges, and I think I can make a much more enjoyable level next time. Also, thank you for giving time to write such detailed reviews!
