Yeah, sorry, I think I'll pass on this one; I'm on a bit of a slump atm, and I'm kind of taking a break from porting rn
Still might stick around for judging tho, and to listen to some of that Good Shit™️ while I'm at it haha
Someone must have said "72hoSPC" three times in the mirror, because 72hoSPC #6 appeared behind me and demanded I run it! As usual, if you don't know, 72hoSPC is a contest where you have 72 hours to port or compose a song with a twist challenge.
Porting for SMW has continuously evolved over the past 12+ years. Before, all we could do was throw in vanilla instruments with default ADSR only and call it a ported song. Since then, new developments and techniques have come that allowed us to push the envelope when it comes to what we can do with these original samples. This challenge is dedicated to just that.
The Challenge:
Your challenge is to port or compose a song, unsampled, utilizing Pitch Modulation ($FA $00 $xx). The effect must be audible for at least ten seconds.
Submission Rules:
Breaking any rules will lead to warning and/or disqualification.
Tips:
Deadline:
You have until Monday, March 16th at 6:30 PM EST (10:30 UTC) to submit your entry. After this time, no updates will be accepted. After the deadline passes, all the entries will be compiled and posted here. Voting will be open for 96 hours following it (from Monday to Friday, at 7 PM EST) Post in this thread for any questions you have for the contest, or you can DM me on Discord if you need to reach me in a timely manner.
Prizes:
How could we forget Prizes? Not only will you get the spiffy new(ish) 72hoSPC trophy for participating, but top three will get their own trophies and our top winner will get the ever illustrious prize, the time-tested classic

Good luck, and have fun!

Submission Rules:
- Your submission must comply within the parameters of the challenge.
- Your submissions must work with the latest version of AddmusicK. #default / #optimized are not required (though it's not recommended to leave them out, as the challenge is unsampled), nor are global songs, SFX or optimization; if it inserts, it's eligible.
- Send your submission to my PM box in a .zip, .rar or .7z archive. Your submission must contain your MML file and the generated SPC. Updates are accepted as well - if you have to make an update, send me a new PM.
- Automatic porting programs, such as SPC to MML, are banned. However, converting with programs such as PetiteMM or it2amk is allowed.
- Do NOT reveal your submission in any capacity to other people until voting has ended and the results have been posted. Those who are caught doing so will be immediately disqualified.
- All entries should be created specifically for this contest. Don't just throw pitch modulation in an unreleased port of yours and call it a weekend!
Breaking any rules will lead to warning and/or disqualification.
Tips:
- The Custom Instrument thread currently has five entries in the pitch modulation instruments section. You're free to utilize them!
- If you don't know how to utilize pitch modulation, now's a good time to learn! You can learn about how to use it in the readme, but for a simpler explanation, think about it like this: The bits are set just like the echo command. Visualize it in the SPC player, a channel with the pitch modulation effect will utilize sound from the channel to its left (#1 will use from #0, #2 will take from #1, etc.) - this also means that if pitchmod is enabled on #0, nothing will happen.
- If you still don't know how to properly utilize the effect, then experiment with it! One of the easiest ways to experiment with pitch modulation is to mix and match various samples across two channels. Below are three lines you can use to experiment with:
Code#amk 2 #0 t30 v0 @0 $ED $7F $E0 (1)[l16 eerercergrrr<grrr] #1 @13 $ED $7F $E0 $FA $00 $02 (1)
