Apparently this is a thing now. Will be very curious to see how this turns out.

I think this is great for all who have no idea about programming. I personally have no interest in it because I can program but I think it's just wonderful that there are such ways for lovers or "artists" to give the possibility to make games with it.

Your layout has been removed.
While it looks cool, I don't know how effective it will be. I mean, a C compiler doesn't yet exist for the Super Nintendo probably because the compiler wouldn't output efficient ASM code that the Super Nintendo's CPU can handle without lagging hard, so how can anyone expect anyone to create a full program that can make Super Nintendo games?

Click the character on the right side of my layout to visit my Discord server and discuss and play and look at and get updates and sneak peeks of the games and other things I'm making.

The authors of these 2 My Little Pony fan games have removed their games from the Internet.
Rise of the Clockwork Stallions has been updated! Download My Little Pony: Rise of the Clockwork Stallions DX: Director's Cut and My Little Pony: Magic Shards now! Spread this link!

i think the guy making this is using small chunks of asm that you link together to form code.
Is it released yet?

EDIT: Wait it is still on development

It's cool but it feels like they are just copying
NESmaker
, a program made for developing NES games without coding and being able to transport it to a cartridge and play it on the system.

I would much rather make games for these older systems through an assembler than some crappy limited program. It just makes the game feel so much cheaper and not as genuine if it's made by a garbage program like this.
The Kickstarter launches this month October 23rd for the SNES software making program.

I honestly would love to make homebrew for the SNES. But the following 3 reasons are why I can't!

1.I don't currently own a SNES. I also don't think I will ever be able to get my hands on one unfortunately... #wario{:'(}
2.Designing sound seems extremely hard on this system! Like when Koji Kondo was designing the sound and music for SMW.(Don't quote me on this!) I think he said it was like 100 times harder to do on the SNES than on the NES. I feel what does it is the samples! Currently as far as I'm aware of there is no program for porting or creating sounds/samples to a BRR format. Only like reading the BRR samples. I honestly cannot imagine how much of a living hell it was for Koji Kondo to presumably port all those samples to BRR format... Or maybe it was someone else? I don't know! The BRR samples sound difficult to do...
3.I honestly have more of an attachment to the Genesis's Sound Chips than the one that Sony provided for Nintendo for the SNES.(Even though you could probably replicate any sound from the Genesis on the SNES.) I'm just more fond the YM2612/PSG than the SNES's sound hardware even if it is more capable. I also only have a Genesis I got like 4 years ago from some sort of Yard Sale/Mini Flea Market thingy and an NES I very VERY generously got from my teacher for Graduation! Also during on/off time I'm trying to learn how to make music for the Genesis especially learning how voices on the YM2612 work. It seem extremely difficult to understand but I hope I will.(P.S. I literally have NO musical talent at all! I'm just gonna port over my favorite songs... Also port sounds from the Super Mario Games using the YM2612/PSG and not through DAC sampling. Like that one bootleg Mario Game with the Brick Smash DAC samples that will LITERALLY cut off the music in the Gens Emulator!)
You don't have to have a SNES to develop for the SNES. Do you really think that everyone that makes a SMW rom hack has a real SNES?

There are many high end SNES emulators that you can run on your PC and you could probably get away with making a full game and never running the actual code on real hardware. Of course if you did make a full game you probably would get a friend to run it on their flashcart just to double check.

Well... The teacher that gave the NES I mentioned yesterday. He actually owns a SNES with his wife. They gave some random guy their copy of Earthbound because he needed it to complete his collection. Also there's one of my friends who owns a SNES aswell! But they think it's broken and are too afraid to find out. Just like me with my Genesis! So yeah... Two people I know owns them but I own the other end of the 16 bit spectrum! Another thing aswell.
But on testing homebrew only on like ZSNES and COMPLETELY without the real deal! I flat out find it just wrong to NOT test out a game made completely from the ground up on real hardware. I mean it's not like hacking some officially licensed game that was made for and run on actual hardware! Especially when someday I would actually sell my homebrews on ACTUAL cartridges! At like conventions or order them online or whatnot! But I kinda don't feel like having to constantly give my teacher and my friend with their SNES,Who GOD knows if it actually does work! Just give them flash carts! Instead of owning one but... No thanks...
But If I do make homebrew for the Genesis... Having my friends play testing the betas would be impossible! Because I am quite literally the ONLY person I know who actually owns a Sega Genesis! Nobody,NOBODY else I know owns one as far as I'm aware of... Maybe one of my teachers owns one with no way of me knowing before hand! or maybe my best friend got one from that "old-school" video game store from a sales deal? WHO THE FUCK KNOWS!?!?!?!? I DON'T! Jeez this has gone on for an eternity!
I hope the music creation tools will be good.
