Yeah, how's the project going?

Long-story short I've got a professional job now at a studio and don't have much time for large scale hacks like these at the moment. As a result, I'm pretty much tied up from doing major hobby works like this until the foreseeable future.

To get back into the swing of things (now that I have some time between work projects), here's a quick update to prove that things are progressing (though rather slowly, please be patient.) You may recognize this being similar to the OW Enemy showcase I showed video of back in January. However, this version is a lot more polished and bugfree. Initially, the enemy only seemed to work properly on one submap and no others. Then we got that ironed out though it caused the player to be softlocked upon death. Both of these have been ironed out, which was honestly the biggest bug preventing a new version from being created and from future progress being made.

I can't promise things will speed up from here, but we have some cool things in the work I'll try to show whenever I'm able to. I just want to confirm that this project isn't dead.
That's good news! The new system is definitely looking very polished and official.

Guess I updated sooner than expected haha. This is the new World 2 Koopaling boss, replacing and addressing some of the issues that the boss from the first demo had (specifically trying to dejank and polish it as much as possible). It's obviously modeled after the ones from Super Mario Bros 3, whose bosses I'd consider some of the better Mario ones. Anoni put a lot of work into it, and I'm very happy with how it came out.

As far as Week 1 goes, this takes care of a majority of the polish work that I was planning. However, there may be another thing or two left to do....
Very sorry to see that downloading this project is no longer possible, but I've been reading through the thread and like everyone else, I'm genuinely impressed and I am looking forward to getting to play eventually!

Also, +1 to coming back to SMW hacking as a hobby after getting into professional game dev! I'm not out of school yet but have been working on a funded indie project full-time over this summer, and SMW hacking is a nice way to do game dev without feeling like I'm still at work!

I mentioned it a few posts back (which ended up being a few months ago now aaa @_@) but I will be putting a new download for the hack up once new improvements for the first week are finished, which are getting fairly close to now. What remains are a few music tracks, some level reworks, and obviously more polishing.

I love being able to realize my dream to work in the industry, but truthfully I find SMW more relaxing, if only because I don't need to deal with crunch haha... I don't foresee myself quitting anytime soon, though my motivation and mood are sadly very fickle. This is my passion project, and I plan to see it through.

------------

Not really a new "update" with this by the way, but one of the things being planned for the hack are finally getting done-- cutscenes! There'll be a few spread throughout each world, but you can find a sneak at one below (sort of a continuation of my last post, and graciously coded by Sonikku):
Will the game work when it is finished on the sd2snes?
The demo does not work, something is missing.

That code is actually in the MSU patch I'm using (by Medic). The final hack will work with sd2snes, though more thorough testing will have to occur. I'm aware currently it doesn't work in non-pro versions of sd2snes because of using SA-1. While I wouldn't understand why the code in that image wouldn't trigger on pro (it's in the original files), I'll be looking into that too.

Hello, was there anything you could do to make the demo work on the sd2snes pro?
Ay, love the hack! Especially the music... god the music... There is a few nitpicks I have, but I'm sure those wouldn't matter to the overall presentation of the game.

Keep up yo' work. Wouldn't want to see all this effort go to waste.

(ANSWER RESOLVED VIA DISCORD, IGNORE THIS)

As of 2022, has there at least been any updates on this project?
I wish the game kept going, :(
Why was the OST removed from nani6400? can you upload it again please #smw{:(}
