[SOLVED] Goal Tapes Not Working?

Hi all,

I ran into this issue when I was playing Hyper 2. At the end of some levels, the goal tape would simply not trigger the end of the level - it was as though I walked through air, and even removing/re-adding the goal tape did not fix the problem. I have no idea why they would act this way, and I would love to learn why they do so I can avoid this issue in my own work.

I apologize if this isn't the right place for this question, but I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance!

Goal

That glitch is probably unrelated. A sign of that would be the goal tape not even moving, which doesn't seem to be the case here.

What actually seems to be the case is a well-known glitch related to Lunar Magic version 3.00 and above. Due to some changes in the sprite system applied by it, hacks that used older custom sprite tools will have the goal tape break like this if that hack is saved in LM.

You'll have to redownload the hack and make sure not to save it in Lunar Magic v3.00+; if you need to edit it for any reason, use v2.53 or prior.

This is good info to have - I had no idea that LM 3.00+ caused the issue. Fortunately, I was able to add in goal orbs and still complete the levels so it ultimately didn't prevent me from playing, but I was just curious as to what was causing the issue. I do still have LM v2.53 so I'll use that from now on.

Thanks so much :)
So this goal tape problem just started happening to me and was wondering if there is a fix for it?
If it's happening in your own hack, and you're using PIXI, make sure to download the newest version of it.

Will it just fix its self overtime if I do that?
When you get the newest version of PIXI (from the Tools section) and re-run it on your ROM (re-insert all sprites), then the problem should be fixed.

If it's not, it's some other problem I don't know about.

Okay it worked thanks for helping me
