Soo, C3 time has come round once again, and I feel it must be time to show off SOMETHING at this C3. I've been hard at work on Super Kekcroc World 3 and I am proud to announce its release date of...
August, because that's whenever I feel like it.

With Super Kekcroc World 3, I hope to capture the spirit of the first two games, but bring completely new challenges and concepts to the table. TL;DR I hope you like the game.

TRAILER:

I've been getting much better at working with sprites and doing that whole "asm" thing the kids talk about nowadays. I recently made a tetris gimmick.

I also plan on adding Multiplayer into Kekcroc World 3 to help boost the fun multiple people can have together. Think Super Mario Galaxy's multiplayer, with the pointer being replaced with a mouse cursor. Anyways, here's a really cool menu I made in 3 days.


GAME FEATURES:

- 13 HUGE stages, each with original and unique concepts behind them
- Completely original story that is great and definitely does not include terible jokes!
- Brand new missions system!
- Multiplayer!
- The first hack to be designed with widescreen in mind!

Now that everyone knows everything, it's time for some screenshots!

And much more is to come from Kekcroc World 3! Expect WarioWare styled mashups, Tetris blocks falling from the sky, Minecraft being Minecraft and tons more from Kekcroc World 3!!!

Thanks lol, only works under bsnes-hd so you're not missing out on much if you don't use bsnes-hd. I released the patch I used to make this possible at Winter 2020 C3 so it's public kinda.

When I say huge, I mean more like compared to the stages of my previous hacks. These stages are just the right length, and I try not to end them too early or too late.

i don't really understand what exactly "kekcroc" is, but it's wild to see an actual widescreen smw hack. how glitchy is the widescreen patch? is this hack gonna be janky at all?

Widescreen works pretty well, some sprites have a slight delay to actually load in beyond the original resolution of the SNES, but other than that it causes me barely any issues in testing.

Also nice that you took my advice with the dialogue sounds

One thing to ask though; on the overworld, is there any need for the lower segment on the HUD? Seems like it just gets in the way and would look cleaner with the top half only. Have you tried to remove it and it caused problems somehow?

I can't honestly remember why I left it like that, but I'm planning on using the ExExLevel names patch to make the OW names longer and that moves the lives counter down to the bottom instead of up on the top, but if I can figure out how to fix that (heck, i might just remove lives entirely) then I'm certainly gonna get rid of the bottom thing. Oh yeah, and thanks for the idea behind the voices! I've had a lot of fun working with it like that, and definitely spices up conversation!

I wonder if there is anything you can do about the Sprite Delay but other than its pretty funky to see a SMW hack that uses Wide Screen.
I suppose if you went super simple with only blocks as the main hazard you could almost bypass that issue of sprites but then you would have to limit how interaction obstacles could be...

That said I wish you good luck getting this all finished and polished up. #smrpg{y}
I will be honest, i don't really like kekcroc's world saga humour that much, but I think it does have it's audience and surely it's a unique hack for sure. That menu system is crazy good, I think I already told you. Good luck with this.

Day of the Muncher also had this widescreen system in place, it's mostly just an option for people who want to play with it. The sprite delay is kinda finicky and really difficult to work around but I've tried to the best of my ability to keep the level design fair and balanced for both 4:3 and 16:9. It's been a challenge to be sure.

That's okay, it's certainly not for everyone. I've been trying to improve on my writing and comedic tone because I am not too proud of how the jokes in Kekcroc World 1 and 2 turned out (especially skw1 I hate that thing) and hopefully this new hack has a little something for everyone (I added in a skip dialogue feature, and there's still a lot of gameplay there even without the dialogues.)
