One day I thought “how could the resources within the BLDC base ROM be used in Kaizo scenarios” and that's pretty much the gist of how this came about. Just screenshots, no videos or download.

Opening. Instead of Mario dying, he's just simulating his own death in VR, making this the safest hack ever, even safer than the easiest of non-Kaizo hacks.



ok boomerang (prominently featuring Hammer Bros and Boomerang Bros. May exploit the boomerang power-up during the latter half)



Donut Aggravation (inspired by the Donuts and Deathsticks level from SMM2. Wanted to name it Donuts and Deathsticks 2 but there's not enough room. Unless maybe I felt like using some kind of workaround.)



Tubularectric (Tubular 2 from C|C, but with P-balloons and the sampled version of Tubelectric)


Corona Castle (final level, felt like working on that early on)



I have no specific level order or number of levels in mind, except I think Donut Aggravation will be an early level and Corona Castle will be the final level. In fact, I don't think I even have any levels 100% finished yet or even an overworld.

Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.

Genius. 10/10 on the plot.

Overall, it's looking pretty neat. The level design is what you can ask for in a Kaizo hack, and you can't really complain about it. Looking forward to more! :)

You could use this patch if you still wanted that name on.

It's nice to see you with another kaizo hack out of the oven. I'm also looking forward for clever usages of the boomerang powerup in kaizo. It must've taken a while to think of ideas for a BLDC base ROM though, so great job!

Depending on what gimmick, it seems to almost write itself sometimes, and that's kinda what I wanted.

I like the name Donut Aggravation too, and I'm not prepared to count on being able to get it to work.
Speaking of patches, apparently I can still use the left+right glitch with P-Balloon but I don't feel like designing around that, so I'll just bribe y'all with chocolate to not use that to completely cheese Tubularectric.

That plot is actually quite a good one. Simple, yet satisfying.

Your levels have always been very creative and sadistic, and these screenshots look promising. Can't wait to see what you can do with so many custom resources :)

The BLDC rom has some interesting patches and especially with the sheer amount of powerups a lot could be done i guess.

I'm really curious how this turns out. So far the screenshots seem promising. I also wonder how sadistic this will eventually be. MMD proved how far you can go

I wonder that too. I don't think there will really be any need to focus on glitch abuse or pixel-perfect jumps.

But seeing that this is all a simulator to prevent real death is reassuring.


While I'm not super into kaizo, this looks like a hack that's going to be lots of fun to play watch a TAS of, just based on how cramped and busy some of these setups look! There's just something about the mostly-vanilla aesthetic that gives the hack a nice extra touch; maybe because it's the Sokobansolver signature style.

Can't wait to see all the setups that are gonna make me rewind the video 20 times to understand what's going on!
